Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Here the real information you want to hear!

Let me first start off by saying I'm in the know more than 90% of the people who post on here. I also have access to more information on the restructure of EDMC than the campus presidents. That being said I will offer anyone who is reading this one peice of advice....get out while you can.

No job is safe at this moment with EDMC. Why would you wait around to be let go?? If you were standing in the middle of rail road tracks and I said at 4:06 pm there is a train coming, you look at your watch and it's 3:58 pm would you still stand there??

Get your resumes together, start networking with friends and families and get out on your own terms. There is no future at Edmc for you, many which were hired under old policies and old pay grades. You will ALL be replaced eventually, if not in June then soon after. Employees are making way too much money for them to sustain as a company, you will be let go, position renamed and filled by a entry level grad.

So my advice is to stop reading forums, trying to predict if you'll have a job is not the way to live your life. Many companies are hiring, propreitary education is going to be gone within 5 years so don't make the mistake of believing you are safe.

Good luck and God bless!

I was laid off and got another job, even though AI was on my resume. I make more money than I did at AI at a private university and the culture is a lot better. Getting laid off from AI was the best thing that happened to me. Keep applying and you will find a job that fits you.

@HFiu3Wy-2zbs read my comment. I quoted the OP, hence the quote marks. And I never stated the Center was a school. It's an outsourcing venue for the schools (ground and online). I worked at a teach-out school and we all hated the Center because it was difficult to work with them. I'm not sure if you realize that if the center shuts down then the online schools will have to do their own processing. They can't? Well, welcome to EDMC. Nothing EDMC does makes sense. Maybe the online schools will be shut down along with the Center. Or nobody will do the job, which I've seen happen at Teach Out schools.

Wasn't there mention of the Pittsburgh center slowly getting shut down because a majority of their people were let go in the most recent layoff and the remaining employees have an end of employment date in September?

@HFiu3Wy-1aqk I'm not sure your info is valid because the center is not a school... And once again, if the Arizona center is disbanded who will handle processing for online schools? Not sure if you know, but online schools don't have a campus to do their pre-cert, loans, and refund processes.

"The center in general is being disbanded. Universities will handle all operations the center used to do in house." IF it's true, then this is the best news I've heard all day. The Center was impossible to work with and we made fun of The Center Concept all the time. I'm so glad to be away from that bs "school".

How do you know the Center in Arizona is being disbanded?

Please refrain from telling tales. If you are so much in the know reveal the true operations going on. You spout empty retoric and BS.

Here we go again, some inside know it all. Most of what you wrote is common sense and not "inside information".

Which Center is being disbanded? Arizona or Pittsburgh?

You say you have a ton of info but don't reveal anything but what others have been saying in terms of finding new work. Just shut up.

This is nothing new. Many of us are interviewing and getting jobs lined up. Most of us will be taking 10-20k pay cuts so we can get out of the company. If you are more aware than 90% of us, then here are some questions for you. Rumor is that The Center is being disbanded, do you have any insight on that? Will all Ground Ai's be hit with the new restructuring? What about remote positions that assist the schools? Virtual Advising? Remote Readmission? Tech support? Our school will have a hard time juggling everything if we have to do it all.

You claim to have "90% more info" and ultimately offer nothing in your post? If you have information just say it. Know more than the presidents? Again just say it.
