I am relatively new to Systems performance marketing and want to know what salary band I am in. I hear a lot of band talk - I interviewed and negotiated directly with my manager and never spoke to a recruiter or HP personnel.

Just ask your manager to explain the band structure, what band you are in, and where your salary is vs the market range. It's no big deal, and no secret.
You should search w3 for "Position evaluation / job classification" (I'm hesitant to post the internal url address or the info itself). Banding & generic position descriptions.
