Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

GOM Sell

Tuesday has come and gone. Where's the person who said the deal was to be completed yesterday? Hahaha, that's what I thought. Keep WD, MP and VK flowing. Because it's still for Chevron.

Mike Illane, VP, communicated discussions with Cox are ongoing and more info will follow. That is about as informative as "we continue to investigate the cause of the Bigfoot tendon failures." Haha, dont hear much about Bigfoot either-in terms of what really happened. GOM leadership has trouble closing a door, let alone a deal.

While you find humor and entertainment on this board, understand that there are many people who are looking for information, support, clarification, confirmation, etc. from other Chevron employees who may be in the same position they are in, have experienced what they are going through or may have knowledge that can help them in some way. To find pleasure in another person anguish makes you a seriously twisted and shallow person. You are certainly not who I would want working beside me or watching my back.

Entertainment. That's why. Beats Facebook.

@2dfb He's not on this board and no, they didn't know what was going on with the sale other than the date had been extended quite some time back. Chevron notified them today that negotiations were ongoing. As I stated earlier, he thinks this board is a joke. If you have all of the answers, why are you here?

So 2ojk: if your husband believes all this, that explains why he is t on forum. Question is why are you here then? Don't believe hubby knows what's going on or what?

@2gmq Thank you for your response. Chevron has finally spoken, negotiations are still on going.

@2ojk, I think your husband assessment of things is correct. But I reserve a bit of doubt for when a supervisor tells his direct reports that he knows nothing. More often that means he knows something, but won't tell you. Supervisors fear spreading real news too early just as much as spreading gossip. If their bosses find out they are educating the peons, they may find themselves among the peons. So, never ask your boss anything. It's a waste of time. Get your news from other reliable sources, like friendly bosses in another department. They like to talk, just not to their own direct reports.

Actually, my husband is an excellent communicator and can use the internet very well. The truth is, he believes this board and these posts are from jackasses who have no facts and enjoy spreading hate and discontent because they are miserable people and have nothing constructive to do or contribute. He told me everything at work was quiet, no one knows anything more, and his boss knows nothing other than the rumors everyone else hears. He believes he will know more when Chevron speaks up and only then.

Or maybe they are just at work and don't use these boards on company time.

Their husbands are probably poor communicators. Must be a man thing.

I am bothered by the number of Chevron men that don't know how to use the Internet and have to rely on their wives to ask questions on this board.

Can someone with knowledge tell us what the status of the sale/non-sale between Chevron and Cox Oil is or isn't? Please no wise cracks or dead wood comments, my spouse is in that group and he hasn't heard a word. This is a very serious matter to us.

@GcJuXnk-1nnx, you are replying to the deadwood troll, and you took the bait- hook line and sinker which deems you Deadwood Operations which Cox will not end up with, by design. Perhaps you should try another line of work. Do you do porn? I heard they are looking for a few good dead "Woodies"!!!

@GcJuXnk-kxb , you don't seem to have your facts straight. You state, "Cox was waiting for Chevron to clean out some of the dead wood." COX is not buying the office staff that is included in the ESP, they are hiring the operations folks that work on the platforms. The non-exempt personnel are not included in the ESP. So you are the deadwood dumb$h!t that will be leaving ....

Maybe, maybe not...I'll believe it when I read about it in the news, it won't hit the news until the deal is consummated.

The deal with Cox is over. But that doesn't mean a new deal with Cox is not underway. Just like when a sale at Macy's ends on Tuesday, a new sale at Macy's starts up the next day on Wednesday.

I heard through the grapevine that Cox was waiting for Chevron to clean out some of the dead wood, like @GcJuXnk-hcn, before they go through with the deal so that they don't have to inherit too much baggage. The Cox guy said that they figure the longer they wait, the more useless dead rotten wood will be cleaned out and that will make the deal that much sweeter.

Chevron is too cowardly to speak up and it's not Cox's place to do so. Chevron doesn't give a rats a$$ about those employees to give them that consideration.

I think the men/women of the involved properties deserve to know their fate as they have already accepted/rejected jobs with Cox back in January.

It would be refreshing to receive truthful information about the GOM asset sale. If Cox is out of the loop now, what is happening? Dead silence is often telling. Is there a new deal in the works?

I "heard" several weeks ago the deadline to close was moved to March 1st, but COX walked away a couple of weeks ago over discrepancies, don't know if that is truth or rumor. It is awfully tight lipped....maybe there is nothing noteworthy to talk about.
