Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

O&M Personnel Status

As usual the the O&M personnel except for those going with the Cox and Hilcorp properties are in the dark as to what is going to happen to them.

Management isn't giving us any information as to when we will be told if they are going to stay in a transition field, moved to Deepwater or get offered a retirement package.

It would be nice to know a time frame as to when this will occur. As usual we are being treated like second class citizens. At least the Salaried personnel were told dates as to when they could post for their jobs and know when they were going to be told if the got it or not.

Lots of frustration out in the fields thats for sure. This is one Farked up deal.

There have already been O and M laid off. They got the same severance as everyone else. Also, to say they have no skill set is ridiculous. Do you really think an engineer could go out there and keep a massive facility running.

O&M folks are the life blood of this operation. If you don't understand and appreciate that, you obviously never was one. These are the folks making it happen!

I would presume that the requirements for being awarded a generous severance package as some of the entitled whiney-baby butthutt laid-off people are receiving, is that your position is commensurate with it's salary, significance and it's level of contribution MERITS said severance package. It has nothing to do with getting "STIFFED" or not. It's the same reason that workers at Mickey-D's don't MERIT $40/hour wages. Unless, of course, you're one of those types who believe that the person sweeping the floors at the mini-mart should be paid enough to house, clothe and feed a family of 8(their "living wage"), or he/she is being unfairly compensated.

Well, if there's any truth to the O&M folks getting stiffed out of a severance package if they are laid off, then the comments made by previous posters saying they are treated as "second class citizens" rings pretty accurate to me.

There will be no Severance package for the O&M, this was just for the salaried people and the Expats. O&M do not have any real skill set. the only O&M that will receive a severance package are the ones rated PSG 21.

They finally sent out an email on O&M De-selection this morning. About 50 employees will be effected and looks like it will take place in May.

Lucky for you guys at Permian, @wgo. I was talking about us guys in GOMBU, particularly the inshore fields. The O&M folks were never well informed by upper management in New Orleans (now Covington).

O&M staff have always been treated like second class citizens. I started as an O&M hourly paid employee in 1990. We were always kept in the dark concerning anything important or of any concern. It's another example of The Chevron Way.
