@oldtimer The out-of-scope were probably done to keep those guys from leaving or changing roles. Yeah, it's good to know you have a job, but if they leave they get no severance, and they cannot even chose another position since PDCs are cancelled for the near term. They cannot escape so have to stay in role a little longer and might even lose their hi-pot status because they will suck at it since they cannot run away every 1-2 years.

Now, with respect to your comment about experienced people in open positions, this could just be a trick by the BU to get their 60% target, but in reality, no one but the incumbent will get those positions., The incumbents probably have no where else to go anyways since they are benchmark performers who got pretty cushy positions relative to what they can get elsewhere. They are "safe " relative to all the must moves out there in eliminated positions.

@3snb, where did you find the new org charts?

@3ujd They may not say it yet, but look at the current org charts (they should be close to up-to-date since HR manages it) and look at the new organization position charts. Then go into Outlook and look at the incumbents of the new organization's position. If you check their group memberships, you will see some people are in-scope while others are not-in-scope. Then you will know how many positions are actually up for grabs.

How do you know which positions are open versus closed? I've been told that org charts will not show this, and job postings have yet to be released?

@3eyq, the old axiom - "Shit rolls downhill". That's why your and the rank and file employee's jobs hang in the balance and the supervisory staff positions are closed.

Put the jobs up that no one can fill except for the person who is there now.

why are most MidCon supervisory staff positions closed, while experienced SMEs positions (IT and TAs) are open!! Don't think MCBU will have adequate technical capability to find or produce oil after this "self-serving hack job" has taken its toll! I have depended heavily on 2 old-timers whenever I have a technical issue I need help with nd assume most of my colleagues do too. Bothe positions are open - as if to suggest there are many out there who even understand what these folks do - or would be able to. These guys and gals understand the data which has taken them years, and know how to resolve technical issues accurately. They have saved many a geoscientists their job in the past by fixing problems quietly.

I feel MCBU will have to bring them back as consultants shortly after they leave - if they let them go.

For most part the supervisors depend on the SMEs to get the job done, while they parade processes and keep the Meeting Factory producing powerpoint . So not sure if Annie Chi even understands the risk we will expose our Permian projects to, or she must have plan B - to call in her sponsor Bill for a transfer after the %$#@# hits the fan - like her predecessor Lee did.

Somehow towing the line seems to be the most effective means to secure your position..

Chevron HR business partners are identified by their eagerness to throw the employees targeted by middle managers over the cliff. They are called business partners because they serve the manager, they do not care or support the company as a whole and do not care about the employees.

Exxon and Royal Dutch Shell's HR departments are professionals working for the corporation, not the middle managers. These are ethical HR professionals tasked with rooting out bad managers and promoting the good ones. Recognizing the talented SMEs and cutting out the political PowerPoint dabblers. That is the big difference between Exxon, Shell and Chevron. And why Chevron is doing far worse during the oil glut. Imagine what Chevron will be like a year from now?

This company is in a tailspin and everyone knows it. Many of the people who are tossed out won't include those who were the catalyst of our severe troubles. In the end, we will emerge a smaller company, but not with sufficient capacity to avoid the deficiencies that brought us to these depths of ineptitude.

I got mine too, then told it was a mistake. Then told it was meant for the coworker in the cubicle next to me. I tell you, the idiots in the mailroom must work for the USPS.

So I got mine, then told it was a mistake. Then 1 day later told me it was not a mistake. Then yesterday told that the mistake was a mistake and I am out of scope. I bet I hear about this again and will be in scope. At least I can laugh about it.
