I am a former CHK contractor who worked in the accounts payable department during 2015. Let me start but just saying how extremely disappointed I was with this company from day one. I along with a host of other contractors were told that we WOULD be hired on permanently numerous times, only to be let down over and over again. Most of the permanent employees in AP were kids that came straight out of college with NO prior accounting experience. These children paid no dues and are the most spoiled people you would ever meet. It seemed like most of these young kids were mostly only interested in going to the gym during lunch time, they didn't really seem like they had a passion for the field of accounting. Most of the women wouldn't even change back into their work clothes before coming back to the office. They would honestly come back in wearing their work out gear and they would smell and be sweaty. So much for being grateful for an overpaid position. Professionalism? Not even close. Most people would be disgusted at the things I witnessed on a daily basis. I'm in my mid thirties, have my degree, and have previous oil and gas accounting experience. I was expecting more people my age that had previous experience. Yeah right. Anyways, please feel free to ask questions about my experience. I left in June of 2015 after my supervisor informed me that I only had 3 months left. After that, I guess they couldn't afford to keep contractors anymore. Again, I was not told "maybe", I was told numerous times with a host of others that we "WOULD" have permanent jobs. In my opinion, the accounts payable manager needs to be the next lay off. She made this promise to myself and two others in her office at the same time. She should be held accountable for her actions. I can't tell you how happy I am to see this company fail. DO NOT FEEL SORRY FOR CHK! They brought this upon themselves.

who the hell has passion for the field of accounting? LOL
OK people, let's try to go over this again. The purpose of my story was to warn people of just how corrupt Chesapeake Energy is. Don't focus on me. After I left CHK over 6 months ago, I accepted the position of Sr. Analyst with a very reputable company out of state. Butt hurt? No need. I found a better company and a better state to live in. Best of luck to all of you current employees, I hear you're going to need it.
Copying and pasting on every thread eh? Go eat a bag of dicks asshat!
4dx and edge. It was like living in a cartoon
I'm sorry you feel that others are being rewarded while you are not. If you've got previous oil and gas experience, then you know how strained companies become in a commodity pricing environment like the company faces now. Internal job postings are gone, and despite what was told to you, I would be willing to guess that the oil price has fallen dramatically since then. Those that told you that you'd have a job were likely under that impression at the time they told you that. Now, I bet any job position openings are gone. They will return at some point in the future. Oil prices will recover, however the lavish spending that took place under AKM should never return. He gave everybody a false sense of confidence and bet the future of many workers on wild speculation that had no basis in reality. As a result, many hard working people now feel they face an uncertain future. You should be thankful you at least have the income right now. There are MANY people who do not. What do you hope to accomplish by whining on a layoff site? You'll likely be found out ( the VP's DO read this site) and risk being singled out to never be hired.
It's true about the kids straight out of college being hired at CHK. Overpaid landman positions, now what? The smug attitudes from the Republic crowd, talking about the new cars, 27 foot boats and building new 5000 square foot homes in Edmond. Enjoy bankruptcy. It's called karma assholes.
Come on guys, that's rascist. Everyone knows Chk doesn't have Nelisha's, Felicia's or Tamika's working there
I enjoy the musky smell of the size 2 22 year olds in the afternoon
Tamika - that's you, I know it. Say hi to your sister.
Bye Felicia
Nelisha, is that you?!? Either way, you contractors are never promised a job. Maybe it was your lack of listening skills that made us not want to hire you. Ciao!
@FzAdSov you may not be a good fit for us, look somewhere else - I know who you are
I second the first comment. You sound a little butt hurt
Without sounding too harsh, I would question your own "passion for the field of accounting", considering that you're in your mid-thirties and are doing contract work as an A/P clerk. There is a reason that most of the employees in an A/P department are straight out of school...just sayin'
