HR is an acronym for "Homely Retard" at COP. Not only are they stupid, they are funny-looking too. Don't you think?

The HR staff at ConocoPhillips are weak at best. The lawyers, on the other hand. Federal Labor Laws are an unknown commodity for the HR staff at ConocoPhillips. I don't blame the HR staff but I do blame ConocoPhillips for not hiring HR staff with a HR background. ConocoPhillips certainly does not train the HR staff. Every question submitted to the HR business partner resulted with the same response -- "I will get back with you on that."

I found that HR and the benefits folk vary considerably in their knowledge of policy. I'm not surprised you were given inaccurate information.

That is not a change, that is the way it has always been. Severance is only paid out after they know whether you are going to sign the release or not. So, payment of the basic 4 weeks comes at the earlier of two times: When you sign the release, or when the 60 day consideration period for signing the release ends. The only payments that comes immediately after termination is your final paycheck and a second check for vacation pay.

My paperwork said the same thing--sign the no sue paper to get the 4 weeks plus enhanced severance, and if you don't sign, it means only 4 weeks severance after the 60 day waiting period.

@FkQw5Yj-1ovb, HR Lady told me yesterday policy was changed on the payout. I would have to sign the agreement to get the 4 weeks and remaining package or wait to the time lapse to get only the 4 weeks. Guess I'll sign and send in the agreement. Did not want the payment until this year anyway.

Guess cash flow is so bad they can't even pay my 4 weeks of initial severance package. Was told today they have changed the policy since my release in early December!

No amount of mismanagement could so as much harm to ConocoPhillips as the ongoing fall in the price of oil.
