Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

lots of new folks streaming into DWEP

How is it that we are two weeks away from the start of ESP (Enterprise Selection Process = 60% of all CNAEP jobs open for posting) and yet, every other week since November there is a "Welcome to DWEP" announcement with 15-20 folks joing DWEP, mainly from other business units like SASBU, AMBU, etc. ???

Shouldn't they all go through the ESP/PDC/whatever instead of taking up positions that we all will need to fight for ? Seems to me the fair process is being bypassed for some folks.

Jesse Morris. I have not heard that name is a while. Guy is a loose cannon. I was at a planning meeting where he would have caused a catastrophe. How can the D&C manager not know anything about D&C? Quite amazing!

I worked with Jesse Morris at SJVBU. How in the f--- is he still here? As simple as drilling is there he f---ed it up! In my career at Chevron Jesse is by far the dumbest D&C employee. And that is saying a lot!!! How can we keep a jackass as we cut thousands of competent employees.

This is the classic. Staff up so when you do layoffs and cuts you will end up at the same qty of people you had originally. Think about it DWEP has almost half again its size in the last two years. After our major cut back we will end up where we were in 2013-2014 time frame.

Jesse Morris will be the new VP at DWEP. They want to blow up a few ships to collect insurance money. Jesse has been asked to lead for efficiency. Plus he can get a few more fatalities on his belt. Less you have to lay off.

ESP = Enterprise Severance Package, They are moving the "special people" they want to keep on staff to the jobs that are saved in the 40% and leaving the others to compete with the "hi-pots" from the pool of North American payroll ex-pats they are returning from oversees. The average people that do not have a sponsor to get them a job will be left standing. By 2017, the only people left on the payroll, will be the staff that have consistently received a ranking of 2+ and above. End of story. The rest of us will be looking for jobs outside of chevron. Everyone needs to prepare their families for the new life outside of chevron.

GOMBU Where we should invest not sell for penny's on the dollar on this downturn.GOMBU paid for all the Deep Water Projects and all the dead beat leadership sitting in the offices. Now the GOMBU is being run into the ground, ignored, and for sale. With some change we can save this company and our jobs. Cut the leadership salaries and use that money to work over wells so we can pay for these bad decisions that were made by our leadership. GOMBU has a lot of good men and women who work hard every day for this company. We also are at work during holidays and miss many family events while the leadership lives like FAT Hogs! But yet we (GOMBU) have a target on our back for layoffs and sales. The leadership should be runoff for putting this company in the shape that we are in now! Not to mention not keeping our employees informed to what is really going on. The leadership may laugh at this posting, but the day is coming you will have to and explain your actions!

The 60/40 is not present employees. It is 40% placed IN NEW ORG CHART. It is jaw dropping brutal. There is no hiding on this one. No rank and yank...just yank.

There is no such thing as "fair", during these layoffs. It is only fair if you are a degreed minority, bonus points if female. Then life is pretty fair right now.

@uek is a very clever person. Please drop by the VP's office on Monday for a promotion.

Streaming into capital projects? That's always been the place to hide people because you can bill partners for a large % and reduced cash outlays.

I think what a lot of posters here forget, or never knew, is that Chevron isn't a Government Agency, doesn't spend public money, and can pretty much do whatever it pleases. Private companies by nature are not democracies, so the concept of "fair" or "unfair" does not really apply in the way some try to apply it. As long as the "choices" are not made with bias towards race, religion, sex etc, they are what they are. Also BTW, as much as some may not like Nepotism, there is absolutely nothing illegal about it and companies can do it as much as they like.

You would be competing for the same positions anyway since the ESP is basically a global PDC for all functions. If they were rotating, it's just to keep them busy until the ESP. If they were residential then what a waste to move them only to potentially have to relocate them again.

Welcome to the gallows for many, not just the new ones coming into DWEP, but the many already there. The game of musical chairs will be more interesting with more participants.
