Oracle Sales Dramatically Down & Tanking!

Sales so far this quarter have been dramatically down. This is another impetus for the dramatic cutting of budgets and hiring freeze.

The current run rate of sales and pipeline is way behind projections as the company goes into the second half of the quarter.

No worries. LE dining with SecDef tonite to get set aside for Oracle in DoD cloud formerly known as JEDI and out of those pesky Labor suits about hiring and pay. Good times!

Oracle internal infrastructure, too, has been moved to OCI. Where would this stuff go?

Move just the needed systems and infrastructure to Austin?

Hard to imagine the loss of face with LE to shut down OCI now, after all of the ridiculous statements he has made vs Amazon AWS, etc.

OCI is a money pit that will eat more and more money, forever?

To the OCI cheerleader, if OCI is bringing in cash, it will be gone. Spreadsheet-lady doesn't care and LE is OK with things just "melting away". Nobody at the top cares about cloud. No real money was put into it. It's the same with everything at Oracle. Lip service only is given, people work their asses off for a while and then the guys at the top pull the rug out from under you. Oracle will not continue to fund you forever, if there is no quick cash to be had, they will do away with you.

We are the best and brightest, the very best talent of Oracle.

Seriously, that's not saying much.

Time is one of those things you can't get back. If you have important things to spend the time on skip the OT, the company will still be there and you're replaceable, they give no sh–s about you personally.

OCI, and specifically the Seattle OCI crew, is the only viable future of this company. Any cost-cutting efforts should remove the dead weight from ALL of the other divisions of Oracle.

We are the best and brightest, the very best talent of Oracle.

Death spiral !!!

I have deep insight into what is happening with OCI from a business standpoint. And I can tell you that it is not only the largest s— of dollars in the company, but OCI is running at an EXTREME deficit. OCI takes in as revenue only a tiny tiny percentage of what it costs to operate the business. It is HIGHLY unprofitable.

Oracle made a bet that OCI revenues will pick up enough over the next two years that it becomes a business that at least breaks even. Even the migration of Oracle’s internal properties (SaaS, database) onto OCI isn’t nearly enough to drive utilization to where it needs to be to reach the break-even point.

The pure fact is, that OCI is NOT gaining net new customers and is NOT taking ANY customers from AWS, Azure or GCP. A few existing Oracle customers are putting isolated projects onto OCI, but NOBODY is migrating their entire software app portfolios or data centers to OCI — let alone developers choosing OCI as their platform to develop, test and deploy on.

Don’t let the cheerleaders and propagandists fool you — OCI is in a race for its life (and Oracle’s survival as a company) — and this is a race that is very slowly being lost, every day, as customers defect to other clouds and make choices other than Oracle.

This is strong payback for decades where Oracle and its employees abused customers badly. Payback is a biotch !!

"I am in OCI and we are breaking all records."

Yes, breaking records all right. Record for the most unsolved Sev1 SRs, record for the most SRs that go past SLAs, record for the most escalation, record for the most downtime, etc etc. I could go on and on...

OCI has records? No one wants the Oracle Cloud.

Manager could just be stringing you along with the talk about the quarter doing better. Don't trust anyone, everyone lies to everyone else. Just because someone has a title, doesn't mean they are honest or will treat you honestly. If it is in your manager's interest to lie to you, that's what they will do.

My bonus blew this quarter. It was maybe 10% of my annual target. My manager is saying this quarter (North America cloud) looks really really promising. I hope he's not just blowing smoke up my arse because this quarter I expected a decent bonus and it ended up being a steaming pile of cr@p.

He did tell me that I could put in some extra OT to try and make up for the sh!tty bonus.
