A lack of job security, age discrimination, hostile work environment... I mean, what's not to love? I can't wait for the new year to start to see what else will be added to that list...

With the 6 and 7 figure thing and that 80 acres to take care of, I was wondering, if I retire early to get out of the toxic att environment.....Do you need a landscaper/ lawn mower to put in about 40 hrs a week at group 1 pay? If so, I’m your man!! I can get a mean mow on! Anyway, good luck to you, and I hope you have a great retirement.
Both you guys rock I am in the same boat as you guys have more retirement than you guys but still working for an employer that isn’t toxic and a joy to work for and time is flying by because I get up in the morning looking forward to go to work. Great to feel that way because after about two years at att that feeling was gone.
@-2yju, you rock, thanks for checking in and sharing. I'm in the same boat, waiting to be fired. My spouse and I are both 59 and will retire at the same time later this year. We are both 100% completely debt free, we both have pensions, 401k, Roth, IRA's, Stocks, Bonds, and one day a large inheritance as well as having SS. Our calculations, we'll have more income from the fixed retirement 'paycheck' than we get today from both paychecks. I've been in this toxic environment for over 20 years, and working for the man for over 35 years, as has my spouse. Both of us can't wait to retire and begin living life for the first time ever, as early retirees, never working for anyone else ever again, free and clear of all the toxicity.
@12MycWCM-2yju Good for you I hope you have health insurance because I don’t want have to pay the bill when you cut your finger off with a tool. Sounds like you haven’t left and you miss good old att. I left on my own and love the work I do and already have a 7 figure income for retirement and my wife has the same and we are both still working because we love what we do. I come here to help people to not take a job att and to run away. And I am younger than you so I am full of hate just helping people see the real att and to run away especially if they like what they do because att will make sure that goes away very quickly.
ha....I'm home from my cabin on 80 acres as it's winter after 8 months there. I retired at 57 with 7 figures. My wife retired as well. 6 figures.
We both get a pension, she gets her late husbands pension, we both get SS,. I need no $$$ to visit this page. Ty for your concern. I make more now than I did working.
I actually dislike AT&T and disconnected all of my services as the retiree discount is not good.
I come here to understand exactly why AT&T wants to get rid of folks, (as they always have) and why it is so easy now. As these posts indicate.

I loved working for AT&T and so very thankful I was able to stay long enough to save for a comfortable retirement. Timing and attitude is everything.

@12MycWCM-lfy If you don’t like it then don’t come here. So now we are back in the 80s. We would the company would learn and change but according to you looks like it hasn’t. So in the end you can kiss my rosy you know what you asset management troll. Is the company paying you to monitor the forum as retirement income. At least I know I am honest with myself and can look in the mirror.
There was zero job security in 1980s. I was a lineman.
Had to go to locating as the line crew was being contracted out.
Didn't want to, complained.
My boss told me "In to each life some rain must fall. Get out of my office"
So I called my deuce.
He told me "The power company is hiring. Get to work"
You new folks have little idea this place used to be run much like the military.

AT&T broke my teamwork spirit. I turned into a person who stated "Give it to me and I'll care for it" I don't want others to know how I do the work. Give the worst most complex work and I'll do it with perfection and never complain. If others ask how I do it I just tell them its too hard to explain or demonstrate and its best I just care for it myself.
Collaboration is a means to optimal company performance but if the company isn't ethical then you have to default to looking out for #1 while providing premium service.
Yes, it's awesome, I'm hoping routine daily physical beatings will be added, in addition to the already established mental beatings and abuse, just to make things more well rounded and balanced.
Yep all true and is why I left on my own. Took my masters and working for a much better ethical and fun company all the while constantly learning new stuff. Att is a cesspool and everything is true in in the op and we all know it. So good luck to the 40 somethings that are still make your plans on retiring early but make sure you have health care because I don’t want to pay your health care bill.
Yes, “hostile work environment” and “age discrimination” (guarded by the EEOC as well as internal ethics and COBC by AT&T mind you) and “lack of job security”. Please do explain??
I realize you are probably only blowing off steam but where has all that is on your wish list? Have you been reading about the strikes in the bastion of employee security France? Grow up. You control your security. Don’t give it to anyone.
