On Saturday, we received our bank statement in the mail. Imagine our surprise to see a deposit from Lowe's deposited on Sept. 9, considering I was laid off on July 31, and am employed elsewhere. We have no way to find out what the deposit is for, if taxes were withheld or anything else because we I was locked out of Lowe's system two hours after layoff! I received what was supposed to be my final check on August 5. There has been nothing in the mail, and deposit record at my bank has PPD listed, which means nothing. No one at my former store knows either......Any ideas any body?

When you go to myloweslife.com there is a check box or something for you to select if you were a former employee.
Try that.

You’re thinking too much. 1099? No one said to ask Payroll questions about why the money was deposited. OP only needs to request the paystubs are sent. The payroll department won’t ask why an ex employee wants his/her paystubs. If they were to ask, all that needs to be mentioned is OP is a former employee and no longer has access.
1099 will come by January 31st. I would not call. Just bank it in case it’s a mistake that they catch later. 1099 will mean it’s yours.
You can contact the payroll department and have them send you the last 2 - 3 paystubs.

That makes sense, but it also comes as a surprise!
Quarterly bonus payout if your store qualified
I appreciate the reply, but I had a lot more than that in vacation pay, perhaps it was an oversight, but sure would like to know......
It could have been vacation pay that you had accrued. Sometimes it takes several weeks after termination before you get it.
