Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Sadistic practices

A few weeks ago one of our DM's stepped down due to family emergency. They filled that DM position 2 weeks ago. Today the DM that got that position was told he would no longer be a DM due to the new restructuring that was coming and he was being put on cap 2. He was on cap 1 before, but was told his slot has been filled and cap 2 was all that was available. He called HR for help and was basically told, oh well at least you have a job. Why on earth would they fill a position knowing in a few weeks that job would be changing? Sadistic I tell you! Sadistic!!

This is how the company is now managed. Anybody who still believes that their work is appreciated or that they are special to this company is delusional.

Learn new skills. Make yourself marketable. Update your resume. Everybody who is still employed by this company should now know that their days are numbered. It's far better to leave them on your own terms than wait around in fear worrying about the next round of cuts or wondering when they will force you out.

Our T/C chose to take the severance and leave the company. Our SM has been treating her like p–p since she told her she was not staying. Our TC was the heart of the store. Always there for us associates when we needed to vent. She told the SM yesterday that she was just going to use PTO for the last week and yesterday would be her last day. They gave her 1 hr to get her stuff out of her old desk and told her she was leaving the store in a bind by leaving a week early with no notice. They have been making her do horrible jobs for the last month and only let her work in personnel when the people lead person was off. Shes had to weed the flower beds in the parking lot, (we are in central cali and it's been over 100° here) clean out the 99 supply room, water plants in garden. How in the he*ll is it leaving the store in a bind by her leaving. Shes worked for Walmart, in this store for 27 yrs. They didn't do anything for her. No card, no cake, nothing. Some of us associates got a card and took her to lunch. Not a single manager told her goodbye. I'm so disgusted with the mngrs. I hope they all rot I. HE LL!!

Back when all this started we asked point blank if we would be affected by these changes. We were told not to believe everything we hear . A couple of weeks later our manager was called to a meeting and he came back to tell us that our jobs were being eliminated.
I don't think that they know what's happening. Regionals and market managers won't tell the truth about it

@ Corporate law pay out, YES!!!! I 100% agree with and support this! ...........................We'll likely never see it in out life times, but I seriously do back you in this.

Btw: I'm the guy who said (and had the post mysteriously deleted) that this guy likely got propped up to cover things because he had Telexon options. When he got them over the transitional hump, they were done with him. I still beiieve that as a strong possibility, as I've seen it happen to others.

there needs to be a federal law against corporations engaging in bad faith hiring practices! if a job is eliminated within so many weeks or months of you taking it, it should automatically entitle you to a certain number of months payout. you take these jobs believing if you do it well theres no telling how many years you should maintain the job. you give up what could be a solid job to take a new job. this stuff completely disrupts your life and career. its past time that corporations should have to pay for their sins. this person should be entitled to, bare minimum, 6 months pay. We need a law that makes corporations think twice before they fill positions they know theyre eliminating!!! since human decency doesnt speak to them, maybe a hit to the bottom line will.

Probably because store management didn't know 2 weeks ago when the restructure was coming. Many believed that nothing more was going to happen until next year. Market teams were not told in advance that the PC/TCs would find out on the WIRE that August 2 was the last day for their positions. The company is doing everything they can to prevent a mass exodus until they have replacements in place. The problem is that they aren't leaving anyone around to train the new "Leads".
