Thread regarding Sears layoffs

December

No go forward plan. It's over for the company. The rumor mill is going today and word is it's winding down fast. This will be coming faster than you think.

@1tbp I remember getting an endless ton of Levi's back when I was a softlines lead. Had no place to put them. This was during the days of the "nothing in the stockroom" orders by the higher ups.

On several occasions we filled our 25 foot Levi's wall and a couple of tiered tables with them and still had quite a few left over. They had to be ink tagged, scanned into some kind of inventory thing on the SNC (think it was called 801) and sorted so it took quite a bit of time to get them out on the floor. The funny thing is that this report was printed out at the end and stuck into a binder that none of the higher ups bothered to read. It was like why even bother?

The Levi's sold OK, but not nearly as much as the inventory people/buyers anticipated, based on how many we were getting. They only sold OK if we had a sale. If they weren't in sale, people weren't buying them.

Just curious from someone who doesn't work at Sears or Kmart, why does getting a c-apton of jeans mean liquidation is imminent?

I love the way everyone rationalizes and spins every piece of information, good or bad, to fit their narrative

@dqs Not only did we get a ton of boy's and men's Levi's on our last trucks, we also got a big IST of Levi's on a special delivery from a closing Sears store. We have Levi's all over the place with no where to store them all.

If a store gets a ton of boys jeans, it’s a telltale sign the store will soon be in liquidation.

@bsz - Merchandise is ordered approximately six months in advance. A retailer's situation can change drastically in six months; especially when it comes to Transform Holdco!

Former employee of 12 years. Soooo glad I finally got out! Been at my new job for a few months. Almost overwhelming how this new company is the complete opposite of Sears. There is life after Sears, and if you were a good worker, very little if any stigma is attached to your reputation. Never thought I'd be able to shake the negative attitude I aquired over those years. I'm proof that it is possible! Keep searching for a way out! It's the only way to make it through that experience. Best of luck everyone! God bless!

It's over, there's no point in a Kmart with only 100 stores.
