Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Will we ever have decent wages?

I don't think I’m being unrealistic to ask this question. A lot of the retail companies have better wages than us. Will there come a tie when people will refuse to work for peanuts at WM?

I know it's a little off topic but can anyone tell me how much a pharmacy technician starts out? Both certified and non certified.
Thanks

"A lot of the retail companies have better wages than us." Eh, a few do. I wouldn't say, "a lot." There's actually a lot of retail companies that pay less than WM.

@3wbm Not that I owe you an explanation nor that I care what you believe...it was decision I made for my family. I took a voluntary pay cut so I could be happy and enjoy my REAL family, not the made up BS called the Walmart family.

Then the question that begs to be ask why are you not working for one of these company .walmart has low per hour pay and considers 35 hours full time you are losing on both ends.We have had 3 store managers fired in the in less than 2 years several co's and a large number of asst quit or get fired. So if you are conceding management you might think twice. And a very large number of Associates over a 100% leave or get fired.New faces all the time and new very green managers coming in every week it seems.Always having to deal with these novice managers trying to manage experienced Associates, what a mess. And with all the changes it only gets much worse. It's not the place to work long time so save yourself a lot of stress and worry and get a real job you can be proud of and have a decent wage.Money is what it is all about for walmart any they get a lot from cutting the bottom line.Money should be your gold when finding a job you will not find it at walmart if you are a manager and think you are making a lot of money look at the hours you work and the lost time with your family. You are really loosing on both lines.

Work for the Home Office...when I quit, I was making $135k a year. My last bonus I netted around 18k, and received $35k of restricted stock with 25% vetting each year. I was just a mid-level manager.

@ 1wjb, you make great points! The real freak show is the fact that United States of America, once the most powerful economic force on the planet, now has as its biggest public employer a f—ng RETAIL CHAIN. —And even that fragile structure is under threat of collapse. How did such irresponsibility happen??

And yes, as you said: for at least three generations now, we've created and nurtured a culture of governmental dependence paid for by an ever dwindling financial source: We the People. You don't have to be a math brainiac to work out the coming KA BOOM when this country runs out of tax payor money............I could go on, but I think we all get the point.

We're all screwed, right along with WalFart ~

No someone will always work for c-ap wages. We have taught people that its ok to live on welfare and govt. assistance and theres nothing wrong with it. One of the richest families and over half there workforce is getting help from the tax payer because they will not pay them a decent wage. Something just dont seem right.

Kroger is the only retailer I know of with the UFCW union, and they make D!CK. Seriously. Paying union dues for constantly reducing hours, b.s. 'benefits', and even a smaller starting wage than walmart.

Non mangement retail is unskilled labor. It will never pay big. You need out of that field completely if you want to improve your bottom line.
