Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

July 17th Technology Town Hall - What will we learn?

As many of you have heard either directly or through the rumor mill, there is a plan in place to reduce or eliminate telecommuting. I find this to be very interesting considering there is a substantial amount of Team Members in Corporate Risk, EIS, and EIT that are home based and scattered across the country and abroad. Does anyone have any experience with how WF will handle this from a logistics stand point? Will there be possible exceptions for certain teams? Do they provide any relocation assistance? Severance packages?, etc. Typically in the Town Hall meetings, we only get what is coming or going from a 30,000ft perspective. Any information on this would be helpful. It is easy to speculate, but with this significant of a change, it will be a total culture shock to thousands of Team Members.

They will protect the executives in EIT Risk in NYC and create a policy that will protect them. These Risk Leaders will ignore the edict. They will use location strategy to get rid of folks because they cannot make the argument on performance and it takes too long. There will be no relocation offered unless you are a favored child. Otherwise it's severance and a pat on the back. The good will be negatively impacted and the bad will stay.

Well his video teaser released today hints that we are too light on software engineers... they have to come from somewhere. If they pivot to agile everything, the unfortunate reality is that it does work, and these small teams work better in person, ie, not telecommuting. So to me the path forward will be software driven on site agile teams and the Rise of the Engineer. And hopefully a lot less PMs.

Good grief. Don't get touchy; we're all in tbis cesspool. Have some Grace when responding to fellow colleagues. It will raise your spirits.

Apparently, you haven't read the other threads on this very topic. This has all been covered previously.

OF COURSE, it's to get rid of people the least expensive way possible.

Please catch up!

iT functions in helpdesk are off shored to the Phillipines and software development to India. Yes many people in Corporate Risk and EIT are home based with the exception of some small offices or branches some of those people have to relocate to a major hub. It's a ploy to get rid of those they want gone and not pay severance or unemployment.

Who knows, but I find it very intriguing that he has already hosted a town hall with Wells Fargo Technology (WFT) in Asia (per Saul’s LinkedIn profile) where he has shared his vision for the future. If the approach to sharing his vision and strategy is any indication; I would be one to guess that we see a heavy and continued focus on WFT in Asia being a big player. Wish I was a fly on the wall in that session to be able to compare the message delivered to that group vs. what he will be delivering to those team members that are stateside.

Maybe him limiting the telecommuting team members stateside is what will help “attrition” and prevent the expenditure of severance packages and having to pay for WARN Act related training folks would be entitled to if they were replaced with off-shored positions and team members.

Just my thoughts when looking at the writing that appears on the wall when shining the black light on it.

I suppose only time will tell.
