Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

How not to get Laid Off at Juniper? Get laid.

Recently I heard an ex-Marketing employee at Juniper survived several rounds of layoffs, even though she herself admitted she didn’t contribute in her role. In fact she even claimed she managed to get herself promoted twice before she was finally let go during a more recent round of layoffs. She openly disclosed her secret to survival was to get laid, by a senior exec.

It is well known that certain high ranking leaders as well as middle managers / directors at Juniper have extra-marrital affairs. I presume for these people, their lovers and confidantes must be the most valuable corporate ASSet, and the key to surviving the many rounds of layoffs each year.

So now you know, how to survive at Juniper. Make love, not war. Get laid.

Thats one way to sück your way, I mean climb your way, to the top!

Is she being spun like a top? Is she a spinner? Well either way, she must be enjoying the ride.

The young, inexperienced woman having an affair with the head of PLM was sent to another organization briefly until things cooled off, She has now been moved again - promoted and reports to our new Chief Technology Officer - what a miracle! Maybe it's his turn now...

How about the previous Ops SVP having an affair with his married admin? Everyone knew about it, but they let him “retire” and name his own successor. Truth is, Juniper is over and done.

same issue out in apac, a lady boss treats her team members as if they are like oddly, she used them for her personal work, during office time, when she steps out the side kicks too go out, no one seems to be noting

Many have commented here about Engineering. These issues are even more prevalent in Marketing. The CMO has a web of friends and family that work their, meshed in with Johnathan D’s network of friends, mostly ex-cisco. A highly incompetent college room-mate of the CMO works remotely in a director role, managing budgets and projects and has survived many rounds of layoffs moving jobs and teams. New college grads as well as new hires are frequently brought in from outside, often the children of MM’s marketing exec buddies. There are other important roles related to technology or competitive importance that have been generously handed out to other incompetent children former juniper execs and their lovers etc. These may not be a big deal, if these people were capable of doing good work. However, they are sadly, incompetent. They stifle progress. Over several quarters, i noticed the ammount of work that has to be done by external companies or “agencies” is ridiculous for a company the size of Juniper. This is not because juniper has a huge marketing budget, but rather it is too many people in Marketing are unable to do their jobs. Sadly, the reason why we are this way cannot be blamed on the CMO alone, and there are many more who deserve to be axed along with him in Marketing. They have made bad decisions. The CMO, whacked both product marketing VPs within a span of a month last December. He has brought back another piece of sh!t from Brocade who is a glorified blogger than a technology evangelist he aspires to be. Well, marketing at juniper has been sub-par for a long time. It will be even worseif if this trend of hiring friends and family and farming out important work continues. If you hire good people, you dont have to get someone else from outside to do it. We all know it’s time to change the CMO, but it’s also time to clean house in Marketing. The friends and family who “manage” mostly outside agencies that do the real work, the interns, and new college grads who get hired because they are known to the CMO, or some other exec. For those that have ignored this for so long, take a look at the marketing organization at Arista, who is running circles around Juniper.

Sometime back the CMO MM was quoted in an interview that he had no way to correlate the sales pipeline to his marketing spend. He should have been fired then, together with his team of “good looking” incompetent marketing goons. Better late than never to drain that marketing swamp. Maybe the board can step in and inquire whats going on, as rami has no balls to do it.

@7pte, i’m assuming you double posted your comments. Considering that getting hired is a challenging task these days. For someone else that “knows” or is very good friends with the manager they are most likely to get hired on the spot and may not even have to go through the painstaking interview process. Would it be fair to you knowing that you had to go through a typical interview and realizing your competition simply got chosen over you just because they are more favored simply knowing the manager?

This is really the stink that is happening at jnpr. When these relationships of friends build up against you or minorities, prepare to be backstabbed and be blamed for the sh1t that you honestly didn’t do.

This explains how everything looks rosier these days around in engineering here, and those in power are rude and partial against not so good looking ones. Having experienced countless instances of nepotism, bias, and simple racism, the stuff of past few years just beats it all hands down. Looks DO matter! In fact I can assume you when it comes to H1B females, this is probably the most important criterion. There are shocking hiring decisions which if looked from this point of view, seems so obvious.

Have seen so many situations where no matter what the technical outcome of interview is, the decision is predetermined. But if the candidate has good assets, its a different matter altogether. And then if the race and language match, it's a perfect match! Look around the faces you have around and how they are capable of carrying the future here, you shall get the answer. These assets are never going to be laid off also. The promotions are so easy to get for them and all is excused for them. It's a open secret on how to get hired at Juniper and others outside have shared this with my confidants.

@4gmr,

There is this one lady that has worked here for a long time. She has left and came back at least twice to work for the same manager. I guess she didn’t need to go through the so-called rigorous interview process.

And likewise, if you get laid... you can get laid again and again.

Wish I knew about this culture of Californication at Juniper's when I was working there, at least could have tried to get some on the side. The only hint of abuse that I got, and which led to my resigning, was the attempt of an a$$ (literally and otherwise) of an inexperienced guy promoted out of the blue to be my manager trying to sodomise me. Now, why he was promoted? Was he indulging in a bit of extra-marital extra-curricular activity with the male VP in EMEA? Who knows with these Europeans!!!

Make (Juniper) EMEA GREAT AGAIN!!! Yadda, yadda, yadda

Some time at least four years ago and longer, there was a “couple” that was very insatiable. You could see them take walks together around the parking lot around the same time after lunch everyday. You guys that worked here long enough could probably figure out who these two were.

Hint: one was a boss and the other a subordinate.

A former employee who comes forward to tell his or her story on a public forum could be damaging for an employer, on any platform, including the #metoo movement. Keep in mind though, the fine print on a lawsuit settlement, if one existed, or even severance pay or termination papers would attempt to prohibit a former employee from communicating on such matters. Sadly, this lack of transparency is by design, and is fueled by “hush money”.

Let’s see if this woman comes on to the media announcing a lawsuit against her former boss then we’ll know for sure this story checks out.

Look closer and you may see the response is not the cause, but actually otherwise. And we may be on the same side of things. The place is riddled in rumor and one can’t help defend against that. Now I sigh - because consenting behaviors seem to arrogantly open the door to sadly unwelcome ones for others.

Good to be gone. Good to be gone.

@RIm4OdK-zxn, you can go f*ck yourself. The statement “I heard” does not imply not hearing the claim firsthand. That is your assumption. Obviously I was not witness to coitus by two consenting adults, nonetheless this person openly proclaimed her relationship at work, and how it helped her “survive” at Juniper. There were others who heard the same statement, not just me. Knowing her personality, I for one, was not surprised.

As for Juniper Culture, it is appalling. It is no place for anyone to work. Men or women. Unexplained terminations of good employees continues to plague this company. Many Directors and VPs at Juniper refuse to respond to emails, voicemails or smoke signals, below their rank. Women and men are harassed for taking a stand, for being honest and standing up for what is best for Juniper. The list goes on.

Introspection may reveal, your attitude and repsonse to this very thread defines the very causes of the problems at Juniper. The pot calling the kettle Black. Again, F-off.

Are you sure people are succumbing or are women leaving due to an unprofessional work environment? If this woman was protected by a senior exec, as you state, what changed to put her on a RIF list? That makes absolutely no sense.

I heard the #metoo stories are just coming to light. Sadly, there are unimpressive people with flourishing Juniper careers, while talented ones lack sponsorship - and perhaps because they don’t fit in, succumb and accept the described culture.

Wake up, a-- hole. You have no idea what goes on and you’re also part of the problem. “I heard,” you state, clearly not having spoken to this woman yourself - yet you take this to thelayoff? Have you worked tirelessly for promotion to have a conversation you thought about your career actually NOT be about you career? Have you had the integrity to refuse an advancement? Have you been subsequently intimidated? Have you realized potential growth means partnering with repulsive individuals you don’t respect? Were your eyes opened?

Women - exit now. Why don’t female execs stick around? If for no other reason, so you aren’t affilited with the author of this tragic post.
