Once you turn 40 watch out. Even worse at 50.

Age is just a number. I'm 51 and flourishing - year 20 for me.

Fortune runs these puff pieces all the time. When they aren’t whining about ageism, they’re either trashing genZ/millennials, or complaining about how remote work will bring about the end of the world as we know it.

It used to be a decent business magazine. Not anymore.

Ageism is definitely a problem at EM. Best you can do is settle in to your CL 29 or 31 final position for the duration and actively seek opportunities to add value.

If you're under 40 and feel your career su-ks then walk away. Invest your remaining time doing something you enjoy.

: @zww+1uQ2CH8C Good for you, but what’s your point? Telling younger folks that you got yours does not help anyone

After 35 years I retired at 65 years old (Upstream, Eng). My EM super asked me to stay another year. I said no; 35 years was enough and my retirement fund was flush beyond what we would ever need. Life is good.
