Many NERD Alumni Laid Off

I know of about 10 associate and specialist-level devs from the NERD program who were laid off today across multiple orgs. So much for an "inverted pyramid", which we were told time and time again so we wouldn't worry about losing our jobs since we aren't managers.

I lost a NERD on my team - was the only impact and they were not a problem or poor performer. Very surprising.

NERD stands for New Employee Recruitment and Development. It's the college grad hiring program.

@jvq+1plzELay what makes you say that? I dont know anyone who got laid off who had a bad performance review.

The NERD program is a 9 month long onboarding program for folks in STS. Typically fresh grads in computer science. Stands for New Employee Recruitment and Development

If you think they didn't take this opportunity to let go anyone they didn't like or who were underperforming, that's naive. It's easier to lay you off then to put you on a PIP.
