Torn

I am torn here – as an employee I want to see some stability and security. I guess, more than “some”, I want a lot of stability. But, as a citizen, I do not want our businesses to become stale and ineffective. Now, I have two conflicting needs here. My last CFE was highly successful, less than a month ago. I was let go because I was over 45, fairly paid, but was considered an insurance risk (though I never once made a claim because I worked out at a the Nike gym every single day) and was three months from my first sabbatical. The culture that made Nike great is gone. Good luck to you.

Innovate through directed, thoughtful, risk taking. Count on failing early, try hard not to fail late.

Nike upper and mid-level leadership is scared sh--less about all of the above because they're:

  • too stupid-severely lacking a fundamental understanding of the physical world

  • too risk averse

  • too concerned about making their bigger margins so that they can get a fat PSP check.

OP - do you want it or do you need it? You use the terms interchangeably but they are very different indeed.
