Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Are we a better company now than we were six months ago?

Before all this cr-p with layoffs started? I don't think so. I don't think anybody thinks so. I believe they managed to ki-l morale, ki-l productivity, and pull a break on any progress that was being made. All thanks to their idiocy and insensitivity. Because they don't see us as human and they don't treat us as such. Fu-k Schwab.

@gfj+1oWlHXf2 Wish I had a senior manager like you on my team man. Ours just sit in meetings. I could use a hand from time to time lol.

@ssp+1oWlHXf2 I am officially a Senior Manager, but actually I am a senior dev with some Tech Lead responsibilities. All those silly (Senior) manager titles are the result or some aligning or something with TDA. Beats me. I know my bank account didn't reflect the title change. But hey, they made sure to dump a sh*tload of extra responsibilities on me, no questions asked. How about that?

@hnb+1oWlHXf2 You wouldn’t believe how ridiculous some of the org structures are. I’ve worked on a team where I was the only dev and my colleagues were a senior manager and a manager, respectively. Neither had anyone working under them and we are all managed by another senior manager.

Blue technology is far superior. Green wastes orderid’s like there is an infinite number of them, we at blue believe in recycling, we are the true green ones. Don’t get me started on how green allows easy management of stocks > $9999, once again break those stocks down, no one needs to carry that many numbers in a price. Finally, we on the blue side believe in rebooting our servers nightly, you keep them fresh that way, green just lets their severs run months and years, why are you rebooting tge apps nighly, thats just bad design green

@vtf+1oWlHXf2 how many directors are on that team? and are they one of them?

i wonder if they know that no matter how important they try to make themselves look, any redundancy is getting removed (if not changing the title and job function)

a manager on a sister team told me i wasnt taking 2024 planning serious enough.. even though we are only discussing initial planning and wont do the actually planning till end of november and finalizing in december...

i asked if she thought we should wait until end of october to see how our team will be disrupted or re-org'd before we start thinking about what we will be doing in 6 months (not to mention if we will have the money to do it) and the response was

"we owe it to the company to atleast start now..."

and all my motivation to do any work has left my body

Green is not all that. It just a hodge podge of immature teams put together. Only good thing going for them was the TOS that russian built for them and nothing else. Blue realized and it is keeping TOS. Green by itself could never have become a great company.

@zrv+1oWlHXf2 To piggy back off what you said we should set up 30 mins to discuss it then pull in folks from 8 different orgs to flush it out and get something reoccurring on the schedule

Looks like the only times we are all available to meet is 730 am on Monday’s or 445 pm on Friday’s …I’ll just book both

Damn I hate how accurate this this. Green talked the talk and walked the walk when it came to empowerment. Blue wouldn't know empowerment or autonomy if it slapped them in the face.

@wvf+1oWlHXf2 Ah, and you people who defend a company that sees your salary as an unnecessary expense

Loyalty won’t keep anyone safe in this thing

Toxic? No. Incredibly mismanaged and without direction? Yes.

It makes being productive difficult when you need 9 layers of approval from 3 different teams that don’t have anything to do with your work. But everyone needs a say and add in their opinions.

It’s only gotten worse over the last 6 months in that regard. “We need to bring this person with no experience or knowledge of this topic into the conversation to get their view”

Schwab isn’t toxic. You people are with your little temper tantrums.

It’s been a sh-t show since the RTO email. That’s the one that really riled me up, would rather be laid off than ever return to an office especially one as toxic as Schwab.
