Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

New E&PS Vice President

I find it hard to believe that we can't find anyone within the company to run GREF? And a retiring Marine commander is out best bet?

It's not that someone internal wasn't found. It's that internal HiPos are mostly regrettable due to flawed assessment culture.

What’s the competitive advantage of staffing from our existing pool of VPs? Cowardice? Compliance? OWD at internal politics and stuffing their own RSU account?

Isn’t part of the job of senior management to train their replacements? Clearly they are failing to meet this obligation. Bonus cuts in order?

Wow - what a way to p off every senior manager wanting a VP role. All of the roles are going to external hires; this is. DWW Leadership flaw…. If he hasn’t develop the right level of execs after how many years then it’s a leadership failure. This is an entry level VP role at best

@cgl+1uI6qZza what's the skill set he'd bring to the table that you don't think someone internally has?!

One of the few places to agree with the big cheese. Surely you’ve spent time with our home team?

If you were internally developed as an EM exec, you’re likely a “parasitic sociopath” as Open Letter to Managers post points out, but with the mega drawback of coming from an essentially competition free, fat paycheck, high praise glide path (we are so smart, we decide how far you will go from a couple of years of entry level work, then design your career outcomes to match!).

Said simply, most of the home team is not only NOT business competitive (think about the vacant stupidity uttered whenever they attempt to generate “business ideas”), they are completely delusional that they merit their comp and Titles after so many years at the trough of so much personal financial “winning”.
