Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

So I watched the VPO video from Linda Harper about supporting our new employees in Injury. We added 880 injury employees this year with another 337 completing training. My question is this, what is SF doing to keep the experience claim handlers ? We have had such a brain drain in injury with turnover and so many experienced handlers going into leadership, are we just going to ignore this ?

Really? First time seeing a hiring wave here?

Let me explain what will happen. The (lets round it up) 1000 new hires are there to replace 500 people who have left over the last year. Once those 1000 people hit the floor thing will immediately improve. Another 500 injury reps will use this as an opportunity to leave the department that abuses them for so long. Now we are back at break even. Only not really, the injury training is horrific, express level of depth and complexity. These people hit the floor and have to rely on overburdened handlers to help them, its cheaper to pay current workers to do this than a real trainer and class.

The process of getting settled in for T1 is rough, even more so for T2, many new hires will quit, or, since hiring standards are more about optics (if you know what i mean) and just a general desperate need for workers, many of these hires just dont have the smarts to handle it. Many will leave.

In one years time, we will be posting on another thread just like this, after a year of nothing changing. How do I know? This happened late summer in 2021 and 2020 that I'm directly aware of. Nothing changed those years either.

This is how bad it is. I filed an auto claim with an injury. When the SF rep called me, I had to explain to him how PIP coverage works!! This is what happens when hubs are 1500 miles from the insured and the claim rep has no experience and little to no training. Give them a phone and a computer and anyone can do this job…maybe not.

Going two and a half years without hiring in Injury Claims was one of the biggest blunders our executives have made. Almost as big as we are going to build three hubs that will attract new talent that want to live work play. New employees make lots of mistakes. In injury, those can have a lot of zeros attached to the first digit. Prepare for losing money for a while and temper your bonus expectations.

Experience equals higher salary and that equals expenses and that means it’s bad. So yes they will ignore it.
