I’m sitting in my car crying. I never thought I’d carry the grief I do for a company. Maybe it’s just because of the sh*t storm I’m currently in. We had each-others backs at TD. If there was a single goal we all had in common it was resolution. We’d go great lengths to get there not only for clients but for each-other as colleagues. We had a legitimate process. I miss the culture. I’ve never had to tell someone that I can’t help them or I don’t have an answer for them more than I do now. I’m crying because I miss how things were. I’m crying because of the pressure and stress I’m under now. I’m crying because nobody cares and I’m replaceable. I didn’t feel that way at TD. Even though that may still have been the reality of it. This is hard. I feel defeated. Please don’t come to my post to tell me I’m a crybaby or that if I don’t like it I can just leave. I’m venting. I chose this forum as an outlet because I know people here understand. I know my TD reps are here and they’re listening and it’s always nice to share with those who just get it.

I came here because I miss TD Ameritrade so much I could cry. If anyone knows of a similar platform with the support equivalent to TD Ameritrade, please post it so I can drop Schwab like a hot potato. The main problem I have with them is the holding of my funds when I deposit and I have over a half a million in cash and assets and they put 5 day holds on $5,000 deposits. Ameritrade let me trade instantly.
TDA did not go outside regulators rules. They did not have a bank so did not ever need to adhere to the oversight of FRB. Schwab focuses more on regular buy and hold investors and had banking products, TDA focused more on extremely active traders. The companies aren't similar. Regarding tenure, I know many people in tech that have over 25 years at TDA that have moved onto the blue side. Unfortunately there are just as many I know with the same tenure who were laid off in the second half of last year.
TD ran a glorified call center. They did things under regulators rules and skimped by. They were not built to last. Again glorified call center! For all you TD folks how many peers do you know that have worked for TD for over thirty years? Probably not many. Unless they are related to the founder. Please stop trying to make Schwab the same. There’s a reason why Schwab was able to buy TD and not the other way around…
Lots of tears all around. I was laid off and they kept TDA people instead who are openly vocal about how much they dislike the company. they’re still there getting paid and I’m hosed so lots of tears only I think mine are worse because I could loose my home if I can’t a job!!!
You are not alone. There's a lot of us TD folks in certain positions still trying to fight the good fight. I go work every day and call out the absolutely fuuckery every chance I get. I figure either I can make one small dent in improving stuff under my control or around me to at least make work just a little less miserable. I'll keep pushing for process improvement, customer focus, and efficiency every chance I get. I refuse to spend hours on mindless meetings or building worthless marketecture powerpoints and diagrams.
Get a grip
It wasn't just Jo Mo. Between TD Bank's 40% and the Rickettes 20%+ the rest of us were over a barrel. Jo was a pawn to this 60%+. Do what we say or you are out, just like Hockey.
AMTD gave up too much with the TD deal, and this current Schabmisery is a direct result.
I feel the same way about TD. TD took care of their employees! I loved working there.
The board, including Joe Moglia sold us out. Tim Hockey wanted to stay independent and they fired him. Next Fu--ing Question. And yes, these fu----s bought us, but them's the breaks.
TDA was something truly special, the likes of which I doubt we'll see again... and it's definitely not going to be at Schwab. I can't fathom this place ever gaining my loyalty even if I'm here until retirement.
I posted a similar lament recently on the TDA board.
We did special things there because we had good leaders who cared about us, the Clients and making real meaningful progress. Schwab is all politics, managers managing up and sh1tting on the folks below. Is your project/product floundering? rebrand it so everyone forgets. No progress but so many creative reasons why the "thing" that su-ks and everyone hates can't change. It's really an art, or maybe the disease you get from ingesting all the schwaberry kool aid the sch'amily is constantly pushing.
I can't believe these id--ts bought us.
