Thread regarding IBM layoffs

What would you do?

Would you quit your job if if IBM required you to go into the office full time (5 days/wk)?

@ymq+1eXGH0if it's a shame they officially reduced the severance to just 30 days (a few years ago, before large cuts)

How you get a mainframe on a shelf.

We are talking hardware manufacturing here. People aren't doing that from home. They go in everyday and work.

Apparently software people are incapable of doing that?

Every IBM product sits on the shelf. Especially the stuff that has been sold. Because it sucks and doesn't deliver as promised. So they never deploy it all. Compliance makes a living off it.

if I have to wear a mask the whole time

and you don't think other companies will have the same requirement.

You can't do the same as a healthcare worker, the folks working at the grocery store or the servers at the restaurant?

Aren't you special!

It's always a great time to quit IBM. But i won't recommend quitting, just get a proper severance.

Going into the office each day is fine, however ... if I have to wear a mask the whole time ... then No Deal! I'd quit.

Just think of all the manufacturing workers that have gone into the plant every day 5 days a week since the pandemic started

no they haven't, otherwise we would have product on our shelves
and all the companies would not be hiring with sign on bonuses

nice try skippy
