Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Too many inflated egos

Many excellent employees have left Cisco mainly because of the managers who hide their incompetence behind their arrogance. I bet most of those big egos would find it difficult to even get a job anywhere else, not to mention maintain it, yet, they seem to be thriving here.
I’m afraid as long as the company continues to retain such “leaders”, nothing will be able to stop the brain drain. We are sinking, that’s for sure.

@zyk+1ivhgbuP Your analysis is a perfect description of the U.K. SED and some of the SEMs who report to him.. in Vegas right now…playing the political stack for his next promotion while the grunts get the revenue in.

Many people don't seem to realize that 90% of VPs and above in Corporate America would be diagnosed as a psychopath. Too many individual contributors do not interact enough with VPs and above to know this.

Psychopath:

  • lack of guilt, remorse, or empathy
  • dishonest
  • tend to be successful
  • manipulative, superficial charm, narcism

They don't care about customers, employees, or economics... only how to obtain more power and control

Excellent, hard-working employees just get in the way of the senior leadership's managed decline strategy.

Excellent, hard-working employees expect decisions to be technically and economically sound and to be made based the market opportunity and on the value provided to the customer. They also expect their leaders to work as hard as they do and to understand the needs of their customers. They simply have expectations for the leaders that the leaders just don't want to meet.

It's been years since that was the case at Cisco.

I worked in India 21 years back and it is the same story, the nitwit manager in india is stuck with same position shamelessly for years before he quit and doing nothing now.
