Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

9 new MDs in HR?

Is there no one else wondering what the devil these people did to make MD? Cut Citi’s contribution to benefits the most? Made Workday as unusable as possible?

That is 3% of the total.

The other banks already do this. They do not have Citi’s issues and stock is higher.

To @bic+1pY21gzf : That's exactly the point. HR is one of those departments where the career structure is a very acute triangle. Very, very few employees can be or get promoted high up on the ladder for them to make US$550,000 salaries. It's probably less than 1% very close to zero percent of the HR employees who make $%%0K. For every HR employee like YOU who makes $550K salaries with vacation homes worldwide, multi-million dollar retirement plans, etc., there are millions of HR employees who will NEVER be promoted to those levels or obtain anywhere near that salary level. There can Only be one or a few Kings. This is NOT democracy. And HR is one of those departments where the "work", promotions and bonuses are very subjective relative to other departments. It's who you know, who likes you or does Not like you. It's a BullSH!T subjective, sinecure "job". HR folks can NOT possible say or believe their "job" is more or as equally difficult or intellectually challenging than someone who works in IB, Asset Management, Data Science, AI/ML, Equity Trading, Accounting, Economics, etc.. LOL ! Keep telling yourself that your "job" is and continue to live in a bubble matrix. The general consensus and opinions amongst the plebian employees is the opposite. LOL ! Also, what other posters here have said is that HR wields too much power and is part of the Corporate Gest@po, Judge, Jury and Executioner.

@sne+1pY21gzf My spouse does not have to work. I don't spend my money like a fool, or try to impress (or put down) others like you. I have also become quite effective at doing my own equity research and do very will in the market. You have much to learn, that is easy to see. Maybe you should get to know some of your HR folks instead of thinking you are on a high horse, and you might learn something ;)

@bic+1pY21gzf: HR are leeches, sorry to break that to you. Not sure how you managed to make so much money, maybe you count your partner's money, who is an investment banking MD, I do not know 😄. It is sad that mediocre people like you had such a good ride in the past 20y of money printing...

@yip+1pY21gzf Your ignorance is astounding, yet not surprising. I’ve been in HR for over 20 years, have a net worth of $5MM, and am on track to retire in my early 50s. Based on my tax returns and my IRA, I’m pretty sure the jobs I’ve had have been “real”. We also own a vacation home and travel whenever and wherever we desire within reason.

We cant all be investment bankers or consultants whose wives cheat on us and kids don’t know us. Good luck with that

there should be like 3. HR has way too much influence. There is 0 reason they need to be consulted on everything. Other banks ive worked at have the equivalent of HRSS. and an EXTREMELY light equivalent of an HR partner. They get involved with too much here. Perfect example of Citi bloat.

I noticed the only people who end up "working" in "Human" Resources or in Headhunting/job agencies are the ones who couldnot get real jobs. No one attends 4 years of college with the goal of finding jobs for other people. One person I know who's Chief HR b0zo or Chief Employee Relations Rep I forgot which one, has Bachelors in Accounting. Obviously, he could Not cut it working in Accounting or other real job. Others with Finance or Economics degrees who also ended up in HR. LOL !
