Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Corporate update meeting

for managers and up..do we think any real info will be shared or will it be a verbatim echo of the earnings call last week?

or will they tell us how great we all are?

There are some at least director level leaders traveling to the land of the sun next week on 11/1-11/3. Maybe that is the "dust settling" event.

PL in STS - I see the same for my director and MD. "Oct 30th and 31st, my boss and boss's boss are in all day events, no other meetings on their calendar. The individual who threw out that date may be right."

Post @xto+1pe3EI1f, absolutely sums up the disdain we all felt in listening to the replay.

Yeah, the comments at the beginning of the replay were really cavalier and distasteful. You can’t get your stuff together technologically wise so I wait to listen to the replay. Then, you insult our human need for some kind of comfort and transparency into an event that could have a profound impact on our lives. A-s.

Peter at the beginning: “You are welcome to leave…”

Peter at the end: “we couldn’t achieve any of this without the hard work of you, our employees…..” but we are going to lay you off anyway. Heehee.

If you accept the offer for another job during the 60 day notification period, you must resign. They will pay you the remaining balance of your 60 days, and lump sum severance. After you resign, they cannot recall you. However, if you are still in your 60 day notification period, then they can call of course. This is rare from my experience with colleagues that have been impacted. In fact, I only know of instance in the many layoffs.

@qdr+1pe3EI1f The can recall you at will within a 60 day period because you are technically still on their payroll. Don’t know if they can if you already found another job though.

Necessary people have already been laid off. I've been in several meetings where teams are over capacity and looking for someone to help with technical work (all related to integration). Yet, they think they can lay off more people. Yep, totally logical.

From my POV it seems like the amount of sh--s given has slid down to 0 as of today. It’s become a challenge for me to stay positive and in a good mood although I am doing my best to keep up my work and do a good job. I mean we are still getting paid and have the chance to go out with dignity by doing good work even if we despise it. Our fellow Schwabies left behind are going to have their work cut out for them so I personally want to make it as easy for them as possible. Bc karma and it’s not their fault they will be dumped on… I wish they would have just been able to spring it on us with a 2 week notice because this is depressing to just wait out.

Not sure which is more dysfunctional: House of Representatives or Schwab.

The next technical glitch will be on the layoff day when they are unable to setup meetings with people who are getting laid off 😀

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens on 31st but logically shouldn't they wait until after the TG and some stabilization after that.

What if the layoff critical resources required for TG? My guess is Nov 10th or the 17th.

3 hours later and still no playback?

What’s that saying, don’t attribute to malice what is likely incompetence? Seems like now it’s both. Do they think NOT saying something, even a half sentence of recognition and empathy, is the way to go?

Manager in an adjacent group said they have never had so many ‘3 in 90’ sick day events, and not from the usual suspects. MDs are no shows on the floor, skip levels getting pushed, how is any of this leadership? Incompetence or Malice…

@kwe+1pe3EI1f disagree. you get paid that much to worry about the people who work at your organization. because for all the rhetoric and market talk they use, the people in the org will make or break it.

its gonna get broke and it wont get fixed for a long time

People, they get paid way too much to worry about everyone's emotions. Yes, totally tone deaf.

The silence on layoffs is totally tone deaf, besides everything else in that "update". They know this is on the top mind for all employees, and not even mentioning it is sad. At least they can say a few words like we still working on it, we know this causing stress.... even with no substantive info they can share.

Tech problems. Compared transition complaints to hot coffee lawsuits and client scores to 20 years ago. Bragged about a football ad and how we were so successful migrating while people worked from home.

Tone deaf doesn’t begin to describe.

that was not an update in anyway shape or form. they just repeated stuff that has been shared already in multiple different channels and did not address a single real concern...

it seems like a combination of being out of touch with reality and what the majority of the company is experiencing and just a complete disregard for what "transparency" means.

nothing will be done about it. it will continue to be a big effing mystery, and it is only the start. if this is how layoffs are playing out, best believe the re-org and RTO are gonna be even worse....

plenty of wordy, long winded answers that do everything but directly answer questions.

the rest of the questions are lofty softballs. this entire session lacked substance and addressed any real employee concerns.

however, it wasnt surprising in the least

My but isn’t this interesting- couldn’t quite get the technology all sorted through for the live webcast. Yes, let’s blame the technology so that members of the EC don’t have to answer any questions about impending layoffs and bad morale in the company due to lack of confidence in leadership-
