You too? I also keep a mental list of the folks that lose us >$100M. Sometimes I feel like I am living in some alternate reality. I just cannot wrap my head around whether people just don’t understand these losses or don’t care.
Former exec CL…I left. Couldn’t take the incompetence at all levels. Most execs vaguely aware they work at an O&G company. Middle mgmt mostly brown nosing yes men that steal their IC’s ideas and pass them off as their own despite zero technical understanding. Tell execs the truth…get punished. Warn them of repercussions of ill informed decisions…not a team player. I used to have a list of the people that unilaterally cost the company >$100M with bad decisions. Don’t worry, most of them were promoted bc the fallout took a couple years and they packaged it as a huge win…BU’s we’re left to cleanup and accept blame. No oil company is perfect for sure, but there are MUCH better companies to work for. Most other companies at least have execs that can understand and relate to their technical staff. Good luck and happy hunting! Leaving was the best career move I’ve made!
Huh. Peeps… it is collapsing. Evidence back when the paper propaganda magazine was stopped being sent out to employees home on all of the positive things Exxon Mobil was doing. That was the first clue.
It’s not collapsing; this is the plan - HC10 reduction.
As toxic as Exxon can be, the reality is that it can still be many magnitudes worse and still survive and move forward as a company.
OP - not trying to be argumentative but if that’s your attitude then I suggest you find a workplace where you’re happy. Life is too short for you to be so unhappy at work. Perhaps, since you feel everyone else is useless, and you’re the only one suitable to make good decisions you make one and leave. Your mental health is clearly suffering. For you own sake, think of yourself and your family and make the decision to be happy by working somewhere else.
