Hey let's create a powerpoint deck on why most of those LR'd over 50 are white males.

Before our entire department got LR'd, they starting hitting gender quota targets super hard. To the point that one of the Female Engineers I worked with (She was a great Engineer btw), said she was sick of getting dragged into Interviews, only to be ignored when she would note that the Female candidate wasn't suitable and that another candidate (Male of any color) was the top candidate. They would in most cases hire the underqualified female candidate. Most of those females hired during that time quickly made it into other areas before the department got the LR.

Diversity of everything but thought. Diversity that's just skin deep. All must think alike, talk alike and act alike if you want to survive in the woke culture. It's all fun and games until enough people who value diversity of thought get pushed too far.

I read this thread and it makes me very sad. I busted my behind for this company for 18 years. I was LR'd in my early 50s. White male. We had an informal goodbye party outside of work for those restructured. All of us, late 40s; early 50s. 80% of us white males. Two good friends, one of Chinese decent and one Women, I guess to make the numbers line up. Most strong, strong long term performers. Most good friends. Will still keep in touch, guess we are the misfits.

Why in the heck can't Cisco move misfits like us, who wanted to stay, to other areas that needed headcount? Most of us had no problem finding jobs. We know our stuff. Now at other companies, doing similar work. You can guess what we recommend for replacement gear for our new companies; it isn't Cisco.

Wake Up - Whoever is running the show. Well, maybe not; it's probably too late, as the "Wake Up" was instead a "Woke Up".

Told forcefully to hire two inclusive individuals to check a couple of boxes. Talk about a waste of almost $300k rather than giving the money for promos or to hire competent people.

What?! Every time I saw her she had that fake grin and seemed happy no matter what was being discussed. So fake. She directs a serious question to someone to answer and she's happy as can be and chuckling.

Probably from thinking about how they can use the politically incorrect comments in the chat room to populate the next LR list.

And once you exclude the contracted janitors Cisco does NOT have diverse work force. Its Indian, Chinese and White. But then again it all depends on what you mean by "diversity".

I was thinking. All this b s about white list, black list, master, slave. Instead of telling everyone they can't say those words (jeez Orwell was right). How about instead we agree to change the meaning of 'white list' to mean a list of approved systems instead of a list of white people. Oh ... that's the way it is already. People are promoted based on relationships. I witnessed a friend of a SVP go from Program Manager-> Manager-> Sr Manager -> Director in 3 years without any results.

Our Drill Instructor would also often comment not too kindly on our new crewcut haircuts during basic training; but I don't think it would have been too wise, at all, to say anything back whatsoever.

The best part of going through military basic training is one learns to tune out the commentary and actions of others. Once you learn how to not be bothered whatsoever by the comments and actions of others; to simply not react to them, it is a powerful life skill.

By saying nothing, you can say everything. Toughen up and say little or nothing. Everyone has an opinion these days. Guess what? Few people want to hear your opinion. Or mine. Really.

I thought Chuck’s non-answer about wages not keeping pace with inflation was more interesting. And then he gets upset because a few folks in chat recognize that he didn’t answer.

Its also embarrassing to talk about the stock price as if everyone gets stock. They don’t and this just rubs it in their face.
