Someone mentioned here that they've sent redeployment emails to those impacted asking them to consider open roles.
Is that really true? And what kind of reaction do they expect? I can't imagine anything other than negative.

A friend of mine shared the one targeted to regulatory openings. Most were lower level roles and essentially you still had to post for these and go through the process. Redeployment should have been done before cuts. Also , some groups that have laid off hafe reposted reqs at entry level. Call it what it is…mdt dumped experience for lower cost new hires.
I know two former co-workers that received their layoff notices, then interviewed for and received new roles, only to be laid off again about a year later. One was able to finally retire and the other found a position at a new place.
@xha+1mxMrlYC - 100000%%%% agree here. Cure is always more expensive than precaution. People have already taken blow by the Chin, time to recover with major incentives.
I know a few people in CRM who were offered redeployment at the same time as the layoff and were given the choice. Several took the severance and walked away. For me personally, any redeployment job would have to be amazing and come with a pay increase from where I was. Otherwise, why in the world would I give up the guaranteed severance money to come back to what by all accounts is a chaotic and very depressing environment right now? I'm finding myself far more relaxed the last few weeks than I have been in over a year.
People food for thought - return only you get to Keep the severance and the date of Hire is your original start date.
