Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Would have rather been laid off

Good news.....I landed a job. Bad news, it's a job that I did not apply to and with a terrible supervisor. I would have rather been laid off than work for this mo–n.

HR has minor, but usually no influence on job selections and promotions. They are there for paperwork, compliance and to insulate management.

@fki so true!

what a useless group of people. have they finished transforming their function yet? i actually like that new workday system since it means I don’t need to deal with an incompetent hr person and their equally incompetent manager anymore.

Look on the bright side:

You get to "work"" from home and I use that term very loosely, for another 6 months, during that time you can look for another job while having your salary and wait for it, you can give 2 weeks notice to the "mo–n" and get the satisfaction of telling him to f—ov when you hand in your notice.

OP - you should leave and not accept the job offer so others who need a job can be considered. One less ungrateful employee in our workforce.

HR never puts the most qualified person in a role. Politics over competence.

@xbz Yeah HR is the worst. I have friends who work in HR and from what they tell me its a messed up group. Lotta backstabbing and favoritism.

Depends on the job that you have in CO. Chevron is in active discussions to keep the BU because it is profitable (or will be) but any redundant jobs that can be done in San Ramon or Houston will be lost. Chevron has made the decision that they will keep our own employees vs Nobles (unlike Anadarko).

Noble Energy here. What are your thoughts on what might/likely could happen to field office folks in Colorado once the merger is completed? Is it worth sticking around to wait for Chevron to take over or do you think Chevron will clean house, so to speak, of the majority of Colorado folks?

This must be HR. My business partner mentioned that one of the many problems with HR is that none of the GMs like or respect each other. They all insulate themselves with "their people". Its quite comical that a group of "emotionally intelligent people", do such a poor job managing their own organization.

I’m sorry. Hopefully they’re not so bad that you are able to survive 18 months under them but with the new org design, depending on your function it could be shorter or longer.

Unbelievable you are whining about this and even chose to communicate publicly this childish behavior?? Do u want us to cry with you?? Gonna tell your momma to make em leave you alone?? Grow up. Many other left standing folks with mortgages and young children would love to work for a terrible boss to keep a job knowing that in two years they can move on. I endured several terrible bosses and time always passes. Very ungrateful spoiled behavior. You should call HR and tell them you want to leave and let some one else who wants to take your job have it.

Just don’t do anything at work. You will get a 2- and next round of layoffs you can get severance.

Been there in the last ROM. I was told that my new job was all about “cross pollination” Chevron does not care about what you want. It is all about what Chevron wants. I f you can deal with it for 18 months you can apply for another job within Chevron. Hang in there!!

No good deed goes unpunished! I thought the objective of this exercise was to ensure the "best" people remain? No reason their should be any "bad" supervisors anymore!
