There have never been layoffs at State Farm in the sense that you are gone the same day without compensation. There have been transitions, in which folks under an identified area are given notice of their job going away, usually 45-90 days, in which during this time they are moved to the front of the line for any open position they apply for, and if they decide to not stay on, they are given a severance package. SF utilizes an attrition model in which they let the Workforce "organically" shrink due to retirements, people leaving the company voluntarily, or an employee being let go do to real performance reasons. Most departments within SF are already drastically UNDER staffed, so no, layoffs will not happen. Another transition, where they attempt to get employees of an overstaffed area into and understaffed area is very much on the table for the coming weeks.

Right now they are writing up everyone they can that are low performers to get them out. Its not a target on old or new employees. It's low performers that are being forced out. Some are old timers that can't keep up being forced to retire and some are new or newish employees being written up hoping to force them out, but in preparation to fire them.
"we were loosing so many employees"
nah SF is still loosing may employees, people cant get away fast enough, why is it you think they have to always be hiring
Economy is down-insurance up!
Green Light has been given or is being pushed, to get rid of the low performers. Where they were previously keeping anybody with a heartbeat to fill a chair because we were loosing so many employees.
Remember.....economy up, insurance down! SF needs to cut fat especially at higher levels.
Late June or early July will be a big one.
It's the calm before the storm. It's coming.

When will you just do your job?
