I have never seen the morale so low while working here. People are frustrated and the team work and helpful spirit of the past seems to be long gone now. There might not need to be another layoff if attrition starts to get high if things do not improve. As the job market improves we'll see what happens.

DP got the best review of his career after naming a lady to run drilling. He took the hint and is running with it.
Boo hoo!
@wxvv, We’re not interested or give a damn.
Why does Chevron shunt all the women into service rolls like HR, HSE and Finance?
Let me get this straight, You still have a job but are on the layoffs boards whining and complaining about morale? Did I get it right? Pathetic.
If you can take the heat then get out of the kitchen. Quit your job if you don't like it.
Attrition will not change until there are options. Not many options for other jobs right now. Not if your technical. Ian saving money so I can leave the company in the next 3-5 years and start/buy a company outside of this hell hole Houston. This place is becoming as bad as San Francisco, LA, NYC and Chicago. Just wait we will be worse off here then these other city’s as we don’t even have tourism
It is not just Covid. The layoffs k–led moral, but the head count reduction was really not that deep and a huge group of Sr tech talent all headed for the door at the same time. The organization was to be leaner, meaner and flatter: more focused on getting the job done and making money. Instead it is all gridlock with rooms full of “leaders ” pontificating about machine learning and the wonders of diversity all looking at a few minions in the drenches wondering how they can work faster. Instead of flatter there seems to be ever move levels of management above me every day, all with vague overlapping boundaries of responsibilities and an urgent need to do something “important” and “fast”... but no clue what that something should be.
“Win in any Environment” is only a meaningless slogan, like many other slogans Chevron has invented from the beginning of time. Don’t buy into it. It’s for public consumption, not for you to go drinking the Kool Aid.
How can winners who “Win in any Environment” actually have low morale or even really k ow what that is?!!! Keep it up and keep WINNING!
Revelations would appear to be the relevant chapter.
My morale is high and upbeat. Why? Because I say yes a lot, but really do what I want. Nothing bad ever happens.
The chapter model would work if they actually used it as intended. It’s recognised that people are doing work that doesn’t match their role but they are doing nothing to move people around to address it. Complete BS
Whoever made up that chapter nonsense should be fired. It doesn’t work and nobody knows what is happening.
Chevron is a phenomenally great place to work with nearly unparalleled benefits. You whiners clearly don’t understand how good you have it.
This chapter thing is complete BS.
These massive layoffs destroyed the morale of the company. Any synergies that were there are gone and everything has been disorganized since. I hope management has gotten their fill of layoffs for some time.
youtube, netflix and amazon prime to your hearts content? Speak for yourself as You are a minority. Maybe they’ll keep you for diversity.
Many people already do not want to work in the Oil industry since it is slowly dying. Younger worker also are avoiding the industry due to climate change. If they add poor morale and a bad work environment going forward executive management might have to start doing all they jobs once their workforce leaves them. Wake up management!
Pity that many (not all) of the people that left voluntarily were people with real technical and people skills who could have navigated the company through this period and helped to to keep the workforce motivated and excited. A lot of these people were replaced with personnel whose ambition clearly exceeds their desire for accountability, people development and results. Most of the new leaders appear to be ed focus on navigating their advancement and visibility at the expense of both our people and our company. Leadership drives morale.
But you are suppose to be given a job because of how good you look. Once in your suppose to be able to collect a paycheck and watch youtube, netflix and amazon prime to your hearts content. Work that is a dirty 4 letter word. We are entitled, don't argue because we are all winners. We can't do anything wrong. After all I was captain of the tiddly winks team in kindergarten.
Its more than just covid in my area. We went through a brutal layoff like everyone and the work loads have sky rocketed. The transition period has been disorganized and a big mess. Its going to take a long time for the company to recover even after Covid.
It is covid side effect and all restrictions combined for now more than a year and not ending anytime soon.
Making room for next layer of snowflakes.
Morale is a millennial thing. Work is hell. That’s why they have to it you so much.
Agreed. People are burnt out and exhausted. I doubt attrition will change though.
