Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Fuel to fire

Fighting noble fights makes no sense in this company. Frankly, it's destined for failure given management's conviction to squeeze every penny out of it. At this point, I see more colleagues simply executing on these poor plans. Given the mistreatment of staff, I think more are aligned on simply ensuring that the failure is catastrophic. Not in a safety way, but in a real financial consequence way. If it comes to fruition, DW & KM will reap the strategy that they have sown. It's a shame, but the end of the current xom may be closer than everyone thinks. In the meantime, save yourself and throw more fuel to the fire...

Based on my experience, it would be more productive and satisfying to talk to the wind.

'Wind talking' is one of my secrets for getting through the day. I have been wind talking for a while, at least since 20016 . It works!!!

Op here... Save your $50 to pay for a couple of days of subpar food on Campus. Hope that's evidence enough to confirm employment for you!

@wqq Dude…did you ask this chick out and get a hardcore rejection or something?

I get not liking your boss but this female manager in Baton Rouge thing you have going on isn’t normal.

The sooner you realize you shouldn’t try to make sense of the company the happier you will be.

You will drive yourself crazy trying to explain to a sls something she doesn’t support. It’s no longer what’s best for the company and production. It’s what’s best for her ranking. Sad to say but I quit trying to explain why her ideas are crazy. Just let it go or she will make you pay for trying to do the right things. Definitely a sad state of affairs but Pizz poor management has put Pizz poor supervisors in key positions and they are ruining sections one at a time.

Try to fight against those snakes, you will loose; even the ones that you call friends will tear you apart.

I work at XOM and I somewhat agree Siri OP. The current objective is to reduce headcount in the US and other high cost countries to the bare bones, basically just leave high level managers. Managers play along because if they do not, it is a guaranteed NSI on 1 cycle. When a lot of your Crown Jewels are in the US, not really sure how this actually works unless one assumes that experience and expertise was never needed. But we run very old operations with high safety risks and at least in the downstream and chemicals we did not invest in capex and therefore nearly all our operations are running with a band aid. This has worked because we have compensated with experience and expertise. Take that away and something is bound to happen. And I can tell you, no one in BTC or KLTC is going to care if domino incidents happen on the gulf coast.

Another pointless thread with zero useful information.

$50 says the OP doesn’t even work for EM (or anywhere else).
