Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

High Performers and High Earners are a Threat to Cisco, hence getting targeted & canned

Far too often, these valuable engineers getting LRed, while managers and director stay, and contribute nothing to Cisco bottom line. In a TOP heavy Organization, like Cisco, getting milked by these “leaders” is the way to strive and thrive. No reasons to have any expertise, just be good politically and drive people out. It’s so toxic and insane culturally.

Let's run through the same list of short sighted complaints that people have been making on this site for many years:

Far too often, these valuable engineers getting LRed...

Run any quality metrics on Cisco's code from before the stock started its move from $82 to $8 and you'll see Cisco had very few "valuable engineers" before layoffs started nearly 24 years ago.

Pay Peanuts - Get Monkeys

When Cisco was handing engineers over $10M in stock in the 1990s they still got monkeys which is why Cisco has been acquiring rather than developing for the past three decades.

Chuck is slowing moving all jobs other than the overpaid ELTs outside of the USA!

You're over two decades late in figuring this out, as back then they were offering those of us in the US an "opportunity" to move to India for far less pay because they couldn't hire enough locals there.

Cheaper = more junior more churn and less quality

Decades of making the same mistakes is not useful experience and hours a day spent in a chair does not define productivity so age does not define competence.

We're only missing the "DEI from the past few years is the cause of incompetence for decades" reply.

You should have seen these problems when you walked in the door for the first time. You should also be making honest assessments as you whether you can improve both your company and yourself, and if one or both aren't happening you need to be the one to take control of your career to get to the point where you can, be it at Cisco or somewhere else.

Even if everything is going great you should always be doing the occasional interview to make sure there aren't better options out there, as even if there isn't your skills for job hunting will far exceed your peers if you do get laid off.

I think US companies that have most of the jobs outside USA should not get any tax relief from the US Government or any incentive money, anything related.

Chuck is slowing moving all jobs other than the overpaid ELTs outside of the USA! What a poorly run company. It is all out of ELT greed!

@wgi+1voGGYaw "I was the best and most hardworking employee in my team" - no wonder you were fired with that mindset.

I used to think this is bs but I was able to witness this unethical behavior from Cisco leaders... Being in MRR3 is a big threat to them!

More “unplanned“ layoffs in TAC. Resources moving to cheaper countries.
