Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I believe the rumors

The reason I believe is because the last time this board was this direct was in 2020 when allstate was assuring no layoffs. Last month in one of my teams huddles my manager said randomly there will be some reorganization but no layoffs. They said that in 2020 so I definitely don't believe that. Everyone hang in there. I'm going to polish up my resume and if laid off get severance and start looking for new jobs and start being pro active now

I also believe the rumors. What reason is there NOT to believe them? If you were around for 2020 you know. And you know how you were treated. Keep bringing it up in huddles. Keep pressing. Get your resumes in order. Keep in contact with peers who left. Remember all the times you brought up 2020 but were told to “stop living in the past and look toward”. This is a despicable company. Playing “celebrate” prior to a meeting to discuss layoffs tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. The fact that prior performance has NOTHING to do with getting a new job at the company is quite telling as well. If you came from an MCO remember all of those sketchy promotions for people who didn’t deserve it but had family members in the company. It’s a shame. Treat the company as they treat you.

How can they move your employment to a contractor? That doesn't sound legal.

Do not expect to be treated with dignity, either in workload or layoffs. The prior commentator is right: Never forget that they lied about layoffs in early 2020 and then turned around and started the “personality tests.” We all took the incompressible tests and endured months of horrible stress waiting for the results. Compare this to how Progressive treated their employees. They decided to give part of their yearly bonuses early, thinking their employees may need money sooner if spouses were laid off. Can you imagine Allstate doing this, in your wildest dreams?

Allstate is actually going to deflect. There will be very few layoffs and very little severance paid by Allstate overall. Entire departments from front line to site leads will be transferred to the contractors as their employees and they will keep the few they want and will let the rest go with nothing. These contractors don't pay severance and the vast majority of their regular employees are foreigners making $5 an hour. The layoff numbers will not be with Allstate but with the contractors masking the travesty that is about to unfold. The big banks have been doing this for decades now.

We need to never forget. And this site helps keep the memory of this travesty alive. When the bo-b of lay offs was dropped in 2020 in such a surprise attack in the middle of a pandemic, why would you think this company is good? It was done in such a unethical way that we need to keep it top of mind. The executives in this company think the employees will forget easily so they can trick everyone again. Not everyone here has the attention span of a flea. Many are leaving and have left due to the mistreatment, unfair labor practices and abuse. No. We will never forget. We need to be reminded so we won’t be as shocked when big daddy Allstate excrements on staff again. They don’t tell the truth. Period. They are not, and haven’t been, an honest company since they left Sears Roebuck. Wake up and smell the curry. This company is just a place to work for a few more months until they move operations to India, lay us off and we get our severance. The die hards that have stuck it out these last 2 years of transformative growth deserve at least that for this abuse this rat fink place has dished. If they try to swindle out of paying it, the lawsuits will follow. Tom and Glen don’t want that again. They will pay, India will do a another happy dance on YouTube, and the people that worked here in the USA will never forget how awful they were treated as the Chicago thugs dismantled this company and transformed it to a foreign based ho-e.

Operator here - I think the first two commentary forget that the first 2 - 3 months of the pandemic allstate was saying no layoffs. However, once they saw how much money they could save and how bad the job market was in 2020 they laid off thousands and with unbearable working conditions thousands more quit. Then in early 2021 allstate was scrambling to hire people back to those same positions because they didn't plan it well. This time allstate will have it set up for the contractors to take over

The company was very clear about that in June 2020 but in March and April 2020 the said no layoffs. They lied in March and April 2020. The layoffs were planned 6-12 months ahead. Just like the layoffs that are about to hit.

Where was OP? Where were you?! Did you not hear Glen say we aren’t going to lay people off during a pandemic? Then about 2 mos later Tom at end of a town hall just casually goes: lay-offs yes. how many? Oh probably 1000s. Did you have to wait for the huddle to find out if you were in, out, or being “assessed”…& then might be out?

What planet were you on in 2020???? The company was very clear on what the plan was and how many folks were going to be let go. Own your eyes and ears and you will learn something. Don’t dwell on useless complaining- it really doesn’t solve anything.
