Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

More layoffs are coming

We all know it’s not a question of if, but when. Everyone should assume their role isn’t safe. Waiting around for answers only adds to the stress, but you can take control by starting to network now. I’ve seen too many talented people caught off guard and shocked when their layoff notices came. Hope isn’t a strategy, action is.

Lol. What they need to do is get rid of that useless barge on the east coast and drop a bunch of useless assets like rainbow lake . One day That old plant will cost them big time when that ancient time bo-b of a plant decides to upset itself for the last time then the poor old husky hand me down inspecton will need to find a new hind teet to leach on .

@w2 yes - maybe start by not having the mafia run the show. It’s absolutely crazy how the CLT has allowed a handful of people to wreak havoc.

If the company wants to do right by the shareholders it needs to start at the top.

This entire post reads like a trump graduation speech.

R6, what are you on about? The OP admitted to lying about this whole post. No layoffs, none forthcoming. The rest of your post was blather.

@qx What are you on about? That person is right. The company needs to do what’s best for the shareholders. We are all just a number. We are all dispensable. You also know that some senior leaders know about this website right? Maybe that was someone in the know trying to warn us. OP and @qw are right, we all need to be prepared.

There are other opportunities out there. Get searching, spruce up your resume and prep for interviews. It's easier to get a job while you have a job, as they say. You will find a job that gives you the flexibility, respect and/or balance you want. It might take time, but it's out there. A lot of people are feeling burnt out and exhausted, having the dread of more layoffs looming is only adding to that.

@q5 It's no secret. One way companies need to stay competitive is by getting rid of the bloat from projects that were and will be canceled. Just watch. You'll be eating your words.

@mn you must not actually work at Cenovus. Keep trying…it just seems sad that you keep coming back when you likely got skidded years ago. Such bitterness. Get your head checked.

@n7 How ironic that you seem so triggered by peoples concerns about being able to pay their mortgage and yet you continually show up to offer some rather out of touch advice. Maybe you need to go touch some grass?

Who cares if there’s layoffs. It’s the oilpatch. That’s how it works. Move on if your going to cry the blues on here on a weekly basis.

No one is more deserving of a drive-by layoff than that narcissist lead in planning

CVE will likely continue with the drive-bys not necessitating any layoff announcement.

@hp You're really out of the loop if you don't believe more layoffs are coming. Hope you're not seen as excess baggage. Good luck ;)

Any word on the timing of the positions to be eliminated in the U.S.?

Lol keep Trying to fulfill Your weird destiny. No layoffs announced or planned. Quit trying to Stir the pot. We know you are bitter for getting skidded but that’s on you. Go out and touch some grass instead of dwelling on your bitterness that you couldn’t hack it in oil and gas.

It would be silly to walk away from a package unless you think the job market is going to get much worse. Update your skills, update your resume, increase your external networking. Do this and if you are laid off it won't hit you as hard and you'll be able to bounce back quicker.

No one is going anywhere until they are laid off. The pay is too good and you know it or you’d be gone.

Why the stock price is down again? We reported good quarterly results, we had reduction in G&A costs (due to recent layoffs). But what is wrong?
