Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Lay Offs + Severances

Is there another wave of lay offs / firing on the horizon? - with everything constantly changing and employee roles being transitioned out the country what can be next for the people who are losing their duties? - are they going to stick us somewhere else to “keep” us or is it easier to just let us go - how long does severance cover you for how is that determined prepared for the worst at this moment.

What a self serving attitude. For those not in similar situation you just sent a” who cares” attitude. Unfortunately we’ll never know when Karma hits you.

This is so sad I just recently got hired and now its been so slow at work to the point I'm picking up a broom and doing the janitors job, after reading all these comments I'm not going to stick around for a long time here waiting to see if there's light at the end of the tunnel. It'll be in my interest and for others to start looking for whatever else is out there or you can just sink with the ship its your choice.

Thank God I'm Canadian with 2 year "Gov't mandated" severance packages, virtually free "Gov't run" healthcare and Conservatives on the brink of an election blowout. Let freedom reign!

With those severance packages you must be American. Horrible healthcare, horrible severance and horrible politicians.

What country? I assume it’s not the US if you got laid off on a Sunday.

Location, Function, severance/continuance?

Severance is 12 weeks for Managers, 8 weeks for Associates and some "critical" roles will get 16 weeks max. Sales people get 2 weeks. ALL only carry you for medical for 2 weeks though you can do COBRA and you will get whatever little PTO you accumulated in 1Q. If enough people VRIF, it may cut down on the amount IRIF'd. Get your resumes ready and start applying. Don't hold out hoping for severance. It's no longer enticing enough to be the last one holding down the fort for 8-12 weeks pay. Better to start looking while still employed.

They are going with IT Savvy folks and ideas. We had IT Savvy's monitoring software installed so management can evaluate workflow and work "effort."

I can't wait for the first report.

There hasn't been any decision if they'll deploy it to tge traditional sales teams (copier and print).

with IT savvy - most likely Xerox Mgmt will lay off IT savvy people, but they know what they are doing, well run I imagine. When Xerox takes over, it will be poorly run unless they stay out of their business, let them do what they do. But Xerox won't be able to help themselves, the Xerox executives will give over the control to incompetent Xerox "Leaders" and watch the decline, clients will leave, business will shrink, that is the Xerox way....Most like the same at Lexmark.

They are doing it in small waves so it does not garner attention. In the uk XBX they have put some people in consultancy and they find out today if they have a job and leave Jan 25th This is across sales and support roles and some document solution jobs. was told there could be a phase 2 of Job losss for reinvention that will happen in March

Layoffs will continue forever, the revenue declines which is opposite direction so HC must follow

"are they going to stick us somewhere else to “keep” us or is it easier to just let us go"

This makes it seem like you believe someone is looking out for the employees. You are mistaken. No one is hiding anyone. It isn't just easier to ' let us go ', that's how they save money.

there have already been discussions for end of February early March. it will be in all geographies and will not be pre announced. only positions safe are deemed tier 2.

Last I knew severance maxed out at 12 weeks, less depending on years of service.

If you like your job and have transferrable skills, wait until they give you a package. If you don't like your job or are concerned your skills aren't going to land you another job quickly, start looking now.

Yes, of course there will be more. Costs have to stay aligned with revenue so pay attention to the next earnings release. Probably around the 20th or so and my guess is it will show continued decline. Then you will have the duplication created by the merger. Don’t think that XRX employees will have an advantage over LEX employees for staying employed. Generally all functions will be duplicated so half will be fired, particularly corporate functions. Once Steve is let go I suspect his whole team will be at risk. The firings have been random and reckless in the past, so don’t waste your time trying to figure out the strategy. There is none.
