The pay is still way above average across all industries (not so much for oil and gas). But the culture s*cks big time now. Has to be the most toxic among companies I know of
- 75? Maybe for diversity bites. Cutoff for white straight male GPA was closer to 4.0
The once highly coveted, largest, most stable Oul and Gas Company who only hired new engineers from top colleges and with GPA no lower than 3.75 - a mere short 10 years ago has succumb to “just another work place”. The loyalty and dedication of their employees, once beyond comparison, has dwindled to “ it pays the bills for now, while I search”.
Contractors filling up all the positions open.

Coming from a service company, I’d still rather be at ExxonMobil than the service company even if ExxonMobil seems determined to continue to descend to be more like every other large, publicly traded company which isn’t growing much. Worse than it was when I joined, but having a sense of perspective helps.
Absolutely correct; Exxon was great; but we’re talking about ExxonMobil here

I have witnessed Exxon go from the best place to work to "not that bad"

I see a company you work for is similar to a place you are renting. Sure, for the same rent, you can find worse places.....but there are also better ones. More importantly, if there's something wrong with your place, you are entitled to making complaints and hopefully the landlord will fix it up. This usually happens before you decided to pack your stuff up and find another place..........
