Working at Ford today is absolutely fn miserable. Out-of-touch super execs (like the lesser Farley and clown car of CXOs) with 20+ year veteran sycophantic middle managers and their handpicked grunt (“LL6”) direct reporting supervisors are running the place into the ground from plant and PD to IT and all in between.
You can literally see and hear the mistakes and bad decisions being made daily, but hey it all looks gravy on paper!! But without a manager badge, without fair proactive or transparent and honest leadership, and with endless tales of the current nightmarish job market…well, it seems like most people (hourly and salary) there just feel like they cannot speak up or it’s pointless.
They’re not wrong either because what Farley misses is that he has not fabricated healthy work ethic or built anything resembling a progressive company culture. His ideas (Ford+) that he would use to empowered improvement across the ranks has instead emboldened all ranks of leadership to work together to blame and scapegoat the rank-and-file while surrounding themselves with loyalists and paper tigers.
So (I have seen this more than once in last 2 years) if you choose to speak out, then your own leadership chain just gets to work with Ford HR directly, they put the whistleblowers in a corner (or red flagged, tagged, and bagged) so no one does it and those who do actually do it don’t stick around very long afterward.
Sadly, those lofty ivory throne id--ts though think that’s a win (“got rid of that problem finally!”) and seemingly can’t realize “no, you got rid of the helper and the solution…you guys are the problem!” Guess every man and woman that ever lived is hero to their own story though, even when they actually live like an unreformed Ebenezer Scrooge.
P.S. - and for the love of gawd, someone please tell the lesser Farley to stop trying to sell us on his Hollywood-wannabe persona, telling his employees to watch his TV stints and tune into his podcast. Self- promotion seems desperate sir and we all know there was only one entertaining Farley and you’re not him bub.
