Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What does ExxonMobil share during employment verification?

I was PIP’d and took the severance package. I’m now applying to new positions. I was curious what Exxon shares on employee verification checks - I’m currently going through some right now for a new job.

Specifically:

  1. Do they just share dates of employment?
  2. Job titles?
  3. Dates of employment for each job title?
  4. Reasons for termination - will they share I was PIP’d?

Here is the real answer. They verify the start and finish date of your employment and the job title you held when you left. That’s it.

There is an email that is managed by an actual human so be ready to answer a call from a random number if they need additional info.

I think it is literally employmentverification@exxonmobil.com

I had to follow up and give them my employee number so they’d reply to myself and new company.

Honestly, not a lot of companies even care about your Exxon experience these days. Once the company was well respected and pride to put on a resume. That's no longer the case. Heck, even other O&G competitors dont value it anymore.

@1vmd Date of hire to last day of full employment + last title held.

FYI: for F5+ companies, this process is automated. Whomever is verifying your employment history calls a number and enters a code. There is practically no person-to-person interaction.

@1bgm EM has no shame and the average hiring manager doesn’t care much about the next company’s HR policies.

Your apparent fixation on your female boss is…..odd, and hasn’t been adequately explained.

Will dates of employment be the start date and last day in the office or last day of severance/benefits?

Also does that include dates for each job title? I was only in one role for a few months and didn’t include it in my resume as it wasn’t relevant.

@vmy For what? Someone (for once) using the site for the intended purpose?

Where are you when all the good ol’ boys are spewing homophobic bile and linking to far-right websites? Get lost.

Bare minimum. No details. Don’t sweat it!

Better get the VOE before you leave. I didn’t and the company acted like they never knew me when I needed one for a new mortgage loan.

Even asked my ex-supervisor and department head. Both spineless worms wouldn’t help me.

Consider yourself lucky if they respond timely. The people in charge of this process (you know the dept. of concern) aren't very competent of what should be a simple process. Congratulations on getting out of the toxicity and best wishes for your next.

@OP Job title and dates of employment.

No corporate employer will share more for fear of litigation.

They can't legally share reason for separation, whether willingly or uinwillingly.

They will confirm dates if employment. Pip information is private. Unsure of JT’s - rest assured many people hold titles on org charts that are different in SHARP.
Also the rest of the outside work works knows ALOT about the attrition issues there and that people are willingly leaving.
