Am I the only one who's sick of hearing about everyone's "mental health"?
I know I'm going to get downvoted, but here goes:
When did this become such a thing? It's as if many wear their instability like some sort of medal. If we truly care about our mental health, we're never going to get it from our employer. If your work is soooo stressful, then make a plan to go into an easier, stress-free profession. Learn to live with less money. Money doesn't mean anything if you're going to He-l every day. If you don't have the option to leave then try to focus on what's good:
-
Maybe your leadership is terrible but your co-workers are great.
-
You have a job when so many others are struggling to find one and might lose their house.
-
Maybe your health benefits aren't that spectacular, but you have them.
-
You have skills and tenure to find a job elsewhere; new grads can't even get a job at Starbuck's.
It isn't the company's job to help you with mental health (yes, I know you feel they cause it; by staying, you're willfully enabling it). Everyone's journey is unique and personal. Take responsibility for your own mental health and work with an expert you trust to improve it versus constantly complaining about how bad things are without recognizing the small victories you have every day.
