Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Does anyone really know if end of September or end of August is the next wave of layoffs?

I am really worried and stressed out about this. Would they really have layoffs again so soon?

Which departments will be gutted? is ADAS going to be affected?

All divisions that did not meet the quota, are free to fire at will. UnSE Div already started firing supplementals that retired in Dec but were deemed indispensable and were hired back. VEV also started firing technicians that are no longer needed. Now, anyone 20+ years in service are target, as soon as they finish their Model e projects they are gone.
LL6's sorority now are running the show protecting their ranks. There is a push to trim whatever is left in Europe but there are still many in WHQ wanting to keep a foot hold in Europe for future LL's rotations. Australia operations already migrated to China. Mexico, India and Brazil are getting menial jobs that can be done for for less. High Tech jobs in Model e are US based. Jim F is the father of moving those deemed "low skills jobs" overseas, he started w/Purchasing, CAD, CAE and STA. CAD and CAE jobs in USA are going to face a hugh headcount reduction. Even many advanced research areas were eliminated and moved them to India. Kumar as a great relationship with the Indian Institute of Technology, the MIT of India. There were plans to do the same in China but current political issues precluded WHQ to continue with that approach. India will be become the next center for Software development for Model e.
A couple of former Chief Engineers who now work for American Axle and Schaeffler who live in my subdivision shared that info at a local gathering. They are looking to get some contacts with Ford to do some applied research and they are competing with India. Small world indeed, they are from India too.

@1ukf+1nXqHHi0 last year was August 22.

Look for another round that week this year.

What is the "similar timing"?

Funny how some in upper management have left the company and are now working as top dogs for a certain “purchased service “ company. What does that tell you.

You have your levels wrong. LL4s were in on it. LL5s that weren't affected were let in on it in the Wednesday before after signing NDAs.

I know an LL4 that is retiring this year. He said it's coming. He wouldn't say when but he hinted it would be similar timing to last year.

OP, nobody really knows. Usually it becomes evident a day or two beforehand. Then this site blows up with posts about impending doom.

Last year, mid year, there was a leak to the press from the highest levels - that's when the news talked about 8,000 reduction in force.

When August SIRP finally happened, it was kept secret all the way to the top. Then it made its was to LL4 level a day or two before everyone was let go. That's when they got me.

It seemed like this most recent round (July?) did leak internally a little more. I saw a big uptick of posts here at least a week or more beforehand.

The best thing you can do is try not to let the anxiety destroy you. My personal opinion, look for other jobs - to see what's out there and to see if there's anything better for you somewhere else. I wish I had been doing that before last August. But I was convinced I'd be retiring from Ford.

@kwa - we just raised our profit target. How can the company be hurting?

What do you people have against 'woke' companies?

I thought being more diverse was a good thing?

Then the massive hiring to LLC will begin actually it’s already happening. Ford is no longer an American company. Roush is full of ex Ford employees now.

All ford is concerned about is being woke and EGS. Good luck with that cr-p.

That's the problem that got us here. Focusing on appeasing the stock market and increasing stock prices via visible reactionary actions (like cutting large swaths of highly experienced heads just to save money) is much different than keeping an eye on longer goals of well designed, high quality products (which is takes having experienced heads)

Yes, sept will be it. I'm hearing it will be a bloodbath. All areas. The company is hurting financially and cutting resources is the only action they have that can affect the bottom line to the shareholders.

Makes me think the shareholders arent very smart.
