Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Replacing employees

Replacing even the key staff is very slow. My colleague who was very skilled and did the most work has left a while ago, but there is still no one to replace him. The management doesn't know what it's doing. I'm curious about the average replacement time of an employee at GF. What do you think it is?

It was reported recently there is a hiring freeze but you know sometimes the truth is a stranger to GlobalFoundries….

They must have the GF HR group busy down grading these postings, great use of their time. From what I read and know there is nothing false in the general statements here, if the truth hurts suck it up!! Yes US/SGP jobs were over-cut in the last layoff to expand and hire more in low-cost geos, this is a fact and if you don't believe it then you are living in a fictional world and need to pull your head out of the sand. This trend will continue!!

Do you think they’re having Bangalore downvote everything negative about GF as a side gig for IT work? I expect this post to get about 10 to 12 downvotes

By the look of it, GF instead of replacing key staff , has hired a bunch of mo--ns to down vote anything critical of the senior management !!

It takes at least 90 days from when the job posting goes up until a new person off the street would show up. 4 weeks to post the job, 4 weeks to interview and offer the job, and another 4 weeks for the person to make the job change since anyone of value already has a job for most positions!

The facts are if you are not needed directly in the fab, the company is and will continue to outsource jobs or do more with less. In the Dec 2022 lay-off they "over-achieved" so they could have budget to hire more people in Bulgaria and India. For folks not in fabs, there is one of two scenarios which will play out, either the survivors will pick up more work or the backfill will be Bulgaria or India. This is 100% the plan driven by Tim Breen and Mubadala to control salary costs and make GF's gross profits try to catch up with UMC. If you don't like this strategy, then your only option is to leave!!!

Whiners gonna whine. Even if it is GF management, you still spend far more time here, and post waaaay more than they do. Keep providing the daily laughs.

Haha yea good question. It’s either HR, management or some people who love GF so much they hate hearing or when the truth is exposed in open public forum.

But also thank you to the leadership and management who do post truth bo--s on here. I know there are a few - so thank you

I really wonder how stuff ends up so heavily downvoted here? Do they hire a bunch of bots to downvote anything with any truth?

There is absolutely no plan to replace at all. As some other posts have pointed out this is a lie management tells the remaining team members as they cover the workload of the colleague who has left. It is to make them feel like this only temporary until it’s not and the team has settle into a new equilibrium norm. Cycle repeats each time a person leaves. Has anyone else noticed there is never a new person joining, but always people leaving?
