Troubled emp

I hope my PM quits that guy is mentally abus1ve to our team. He causes more problems then he solves. At this point I'm thinking my only option is to report to HR but I don't think they will help. Any tips on what I should do?

project mgmt must be the easiest job in the world: screen share onenote, write down things people said without understanding a word of it, throw in the word “blockers” and emptily suggest the engineers can come to you if they need anything knowing full well that they won’t because they’re aware you’re totally useless.

The absolute, most critical thing that must be done is document, document, document as the poster above recommended (Post ID: @uhn+1rcOWUCZ)

If this rises to the level that you have an actionable basis to sue, you must have documentation - if you haven’t already started, start immediately on instances that have happened and you can recall all details.

In the eyes of the legal system, if it’s not documented, it didn’t happen and you’ll get bounced out of the courtroom the minute the judge finds out there’s no evidence (documentation), you’re done.

I’m going to back up a little bit here. The criteria that a lawyer is going to be looking for is documentation as well. If you don’t have it, you won’t find a good attorney that takes on your case.

If you question what qualifies me to give you suggestions, I was a contract attorney for 25 years and now I just consult when I find an interesting case.

HR is there to protect the company. NOT YOU!!! Former HR worker.

My boss was a closet narcissist, alcoholic, and po-n addict (literally po-n photos on his work phone). Guess what HR did about it? Nadda

Document everything
Send emails to yourself
Contact an employment attorney immediately

I doubt they’ll help. It will most likely make it worse. I’ve seen it at multiple companies. My friend tried going to HR anbd ended up having to quit. You basically need to find something else. You can’t win.

HR will help, make sure you state the facts and if there are others in the teams who experienced similar issues, you all can go together and report the issue. They will investigate the issue, it may take some time. Don't take any bullsh-t from anyone. It's not their Dad's office.

They fired my boss after I reported her. Good Luck.

Document specific actionable items with dates, notes, recordings and copies of emails, messages and voicemails.

If it is just incompetence, bullying and/or a jerk you don’t have enough for HR.

If you have protected class items like racism you have a possible path. You’d want to submit to the ombudsman and start the process through them. You may wish to have your own attorney.

The key question will be if your managers and others already know about this person and disagree or agree and have done nothing. Sadly there is nothing the company will do about a jerk or someone who’s mentally abusive. In fact, they may promote them. Look at Gingerbread.

This is where your manager need to show he is worth the money. If you are a manager, then you need a mentor.

You need to elaborate, saying someone is abusive can be subjective.

Tell their manager and hope they care. 50/50 chance.
