Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Pay attention to the benefit survey

People will be getting a benefit survey, they will ask whether you want this or that. They are testing the waters to see how they can cut benefits and say “we listened to the survey and this is what you wanted.”

It wont shock me that they get rid of the pension all together

@g0 yep. you can totally see where they’re going with the survey. Decrease retirement contributions. Increase medical cost. This or that. And at rthe end it’s what they decide, but will say it’s what we voiced.
They’re spending so much money on events and non-essentials. In the end, the employees will have to pay.

@tx for what it is worth @dj is on topic as the survey had lots of questions about student loan forgiveness as well as tuition reimbursement.

So it sees they are trying to see if we want student loan forgiveness or payments to come out of our checks directly to the loan company/originator.

You obviously didn’t take the survey. That or reading comprehension must be hard.

Lots of mention of disaster relief fund as well. This allows them to set money aside that wouldn't get used regularly, calling it a benefit, but most employees would not be able to collect.

TIAA will probably find ways to freeze the pension and off load some of the liabilities in a massive pension risk transfer at some point.

TIAA better be careful…eliminating benefits is a slippery slope …we are already behind competitors like Fidelity in terms of benefits (student loan payments up to 15K, profit sharing) cutting costs in that area will bleed talent ..especially in the DFW market where they are already struggling to fill up the Frisco office…

TIAA better not mess with our retirement benefits or there will be riots.

Lead with lifetime income? Don’t mess with our benefits.

Health Care Insurance Premiums are going through the roof. TIAA will be looking to decrease the employer match and freeze pension. They need to find creative ways to pay for cost overruns brought on by Frisco, outflows of $, and to pay for "T"s big compensation package.

Why would they get rid of the part that they can lock your money into? It makes more sense to ditch the match and keep the pension piece. The 401k money is gone as soon as you leave the firm or retire.
