Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I thought Xerox acquired Lexmark?

…. Or more positively I thought it was a new partnership? But no. Everything I have heard and seen is Lexmark people saying “ we will do it the Lexmark way now from now on” and “what xerox did that was value-added and respected by them for years and years will be replaced by administrative type roles in our repetitive factories off-shore”. Jeez. Do they not realise that every client is different and so there does need to be non-repetitive, thoughtful, insightful work as well? I was positive but I have never come across a bunch of guys who behave in this mid-American bully-boy way. HELP !!

@tv Lexmark peer, you
“ Xerox side has to go off and run it by 18 different groups to collect feedback, only to come back 2 weeks later and say…..”

You are majority correct.
— 2 of the groups to run by would be correct as there is more volume than Lexmark, more types of channels, customers, types of requirements, etc.

  • the other 16, agree! And 10 of them are managers telling the 6 seasoned employees something they already know how to do.

@tv Do it the lexmark way. Use slave labor, get caught, become completely devalued as a company, get riddled with debt and barely register as a player in a4. but you are lean at least. that will help the sinking xerox ship

Doing it the Lexmark way is the only hope of this combined company surviving. In 2024, Lexmark's EBITDA was +$289MM. Xerox's was -$843MM. That's the only data point anyone should need when deciding which path to follow.

There will be a learning curve for Xerox employees. There was for us. It took us years to get this lean, and we were certain it would turn out badly for us and our customers. But come to find out, cutting out the middle managers, reducing bureaucracy, and empowering employees to make decisions and drive change made us more flexible and quicker to respond to customer needs. It ki-ls me sitting in these Integration meetings where we'll make a decision immediately, and can have "our" part done in a couple days, but then the Xerox side has to go off and run it by 18 different groups to collect feedback, only to come back 2 weeks later and say their systems aren't even capable, or it will take months to do. Instead of "best of the best", in many cases we're doing things Xerox's way simply because they're incapable of making changes fast enough.

How can Lexmark leadership sc--w things up worse than historical Xerox leadership? Middle and Sr Mgrs, years of no decisions, no strategy, while just managing to the next level up! Fake yearly leadership meetings, fake partner events, just moving about doing nothing but feeling important!
What have most done or changed? Nothing! only poor lower level moral with no direction. Guess what? now they are redundant!

Shiny new thing. Business sc-m isolated in CT. Nassau Community college SB and his bullsh!t AI, bullsh!t “bully”. Lex ran child labor to stay afloat. Great strategy, if you get away with it! Oops. Japan Inc at least has morals. SB doesn’t even talk to his family.

When Xerox bought GIS, the story was that Xerox was going to let GIS do its own thing, that nothing would change. Lexmark is probably hearing the same thing...

Memories of when ikon bought ricoh. Lexmark tail wagging the xerox dog meat is hilarious but let’s be honest... Doesn’t it just feel so right? Perfect ending to this dark twisted comedy.

Yeah it's mind boggling. And it's happening in IT as well. I sit in the business and see some real head-scratcher decisions being made over there. Clearly the new regime will bring friendly faces for leadership and we will be hoping the flameout is slow enough to make it to retirement (for those that survive Oct armageddon).
