Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

So many lies

EM managers are horrible. They will promise you a promotion and a juicy bonus and then just pretend it never happened once the project you were working on day and night to complete in time is done. I guess it's my own fault that I didn't get it in writing. This is a great lesson for the future.

When a manager tells you that you are a good asset to the company, wrong sign. Take a look at the Midland office before the pandemic. Facilities a good example of this kind of situation.

Sounds like you are overpaid. If you were as good as you think you are, you would have already been working somewhere else. You are getting treated exactly as you should be. Suspect you did nothing on the project except watch a contractor do the work and now you want to take credit for it, you are no different from EM managers except you are paid less, though still paid more than you’re worth.

@tqn is solutely right that there is no hinting, much less promising in the manner described.

it is true the current management teams are toxic and incompetent. but they follow certain rules like this one.

they seem stupid, but that's just training.

Troll. EM managers are trained not to hint at any future monetary rewards. This isn't how it works at EM.

If you think you'll get that in writing, put down the crack pipe.

How do you know? Time for putting in 2024 promotions hasn’t happened yet. Or were you just expecting it off cycle?

Take your power back ... find other work!! (In fact, you should NEVER stop looking for the next job. Ever. )

Or, you can stay in a 'less than desirable' situation and figure out how to work the system. (I did the later. It worked for me :)

The decision gets complicated especially if you are the primary (or principle) family provider.

Good luck
