Thread regarding Ford layoffs

RTO won’t fix a damn thing

This company’s fate was sealed before WFH. Anyone remember the 2020MY Explorer launch? That had tons of people crawling all over it; however people are only as good if their leaders advocate for them follow the process. You watch, all these psychopaths which run this company will continue to cut corners; misrepresenting and down right lying to get a larger bonus. So sit back because now you get to be in person with these a--holes.

@tau+1r08GgVq I thought the same until someone explained to me that a lot of positions were not allowed to be backfilled if someone left. It was better to let slackers stay on the payroll and get 20% output from them than fire them and get 0%. Backwards thinking for sure but the managers were playing the game per the rules they were given.

Yes. Why have all rto to reign in the abusers. Just reprimand the abusers.

A coworker works from home. The major problem is this person has a poor work ethic, and always has a excuse for late work. They are not available a lot of days during normal working hours. Because the person feels is is okay to leave their home to run errands all day. What is amazing is this person doesn't think anyone has caught on to what they really are up to. Which brings up the question, why hasn't this person been fired by Ford?

Not work site dependent requiring use of facilities. 21st century internet, cell phone and sw/apps allows computer access remotely at home to run cae models and collaborate in webex meetings globally on off hours. This was not available in 1980 or 1990.

For all those whining about the upcoming RTO,
What exactly is your Ford job's responsibilities that you can justify remaining WFH?

@xes

Sounds like you should have studied, trained or educated yourself to get a position that accommodated WFH.

Crying about it won't change your situation. Put in some work and get a different job that can make you happy.

RTO is a way to get people to quit.

Ford has had engineers working remotely for years prior to 2020. I know of one that lives Georgia but was “working” at the research lab.

They were talking about eliminating our assigned desks and going to desk “hoteling” because they said we really didn’t need them anymore.

This push for RTO is all politics. The monied class involved in commercial real estate is taking it in the shorts so they’re pushing their cronies to bring back the good old days.
