Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How is this response

My manager told me
Do you think you get a hike?
I resigned in 3 weeks. I told him, do you think I work for you?

The stupid and arrogant managers at Cisco simply judge you by seeing how much you are useful to them, not to the company. I don't want to work for a company where you work for a manager, not for the company.

@szh+1qZD5fcK,
Joke that you would fire me, I won't hire you as well. In btw, Cisco is firing thousands of people next week who are more fluent in English and have better command of the language than me. FYI, the stupid manager I reported had even worse (poor) English and communication skills compared to me, you must consider firing him too.

I have posted several posts and responses. No one has comments for them.
So, I won't take your comments. Before you/cisco/the stupid manager thought firing me, I already left as I didn't wish to work with mediocre people like you and other stupid.

Your manager "harassed" you till you quit. Manager wins (he will get a bonus). You lose.

It is weird that the story ends with "I resigned in 3 weeks." A very long time ago when I was a kid with the magic "3-5 years experience" I left three weeks after a wage freeze was announced for a 37% greater salary and I made many more double digit percentage jumps as my career progressed, so my manager who stayed at that first company fell far behind.

No one ever teaches you in school what kind of work is out there and what its value is, and if you can get into leadership roles on key projects you can bulk skills in ways that most of your peers never will. Over time "good" with drive and opportunity is always going to be worth more than "great" that sits in the same place making the same mistakes.

Good for you, and what an id--tic and arrogant question from your manager.

The moral is at an all time low, even the over achievers are taking a step back. Everyone senses it.

Yes, you work for the manager.

No, you do not get a raise.

It is called the chain of command.

This has nothing to do with Cisco or layoffs, sounds like you’re not getting along with your manager. Go figure it out for yourself, it could happen anywhere ….you work for the manager, the team and company it’s all together.
